lbj you have been in my daily prayers since your trip to the ER. Love the picture and the new little one coming.
I am sort of in the same boat and God has given me 9 years I should not have had. Two grand babies and one great grandson that I would not have know.
Best to you and I will continue to keep you and yours in my daily prayers.

Looks like it's been a while since I posted.

The last couple of months have been a little rough as I have watched my creatinine levels increase with each 2 week blood test for my treatment.

With only one half of one kidney that works, I think it's a valid concern.
I usually hover around 1.9 but it got as high as 2.05 before receding the last 3 tests.
I am now back to my normal levels for now.
I even pulled a 1.76 2 weeks ago.

I cannot say for certain why the numbers had increased until recently but I had gotten into the habit of forgetting vitamin C which I began adding again a month ago.
I wonder if the lack of vitamin C was in part responsible for my bad numbers.
Also, I cut out all soft drinks as well so there is that.
I really missed my orange sodas and slowly increased them to a daily intake without noticing.

Whatever happens, I will go on praising God and the rest will take care of itself either way.

Younger daughter's new baby is due in early January and it appears certain the birth will have to be a c-section unfortunately.

Second grandson on the way! Big Grin
It's gonna be great: Abel Gregory Patten Wigley.

I am truly blessed.

My Google-Fu is adequate enough to learn that creatinine level is an indicator of the remaining kidney function that you have. Glad to read it’s once again at your normal level. Great news.

Tom, wishing you and your growing family a blessed and happy Christmas season.

Amen to that news! I'm still sending prayer in your direction often as possible. Good info on kidney diet health , I've been running on the one for over 50yrs now and trying to preserve the one remaining. I try to limit meds or cut dosages if possible just to sustain reasonable kidney health and minimize side effects. One tip I've yet to try is the Knudsen Tart Cherry Juice that has kidney health benefits as posted in a thread here. Will continue the prayers, and a wonderful Holiday Season to you and yours, congrats on the new addition in Jan Smile

Beej.

My youngest dear daughter, who will be 30 whole years old this "Jan-you-airy" in the old year of 20 and 21, was not supposed to be a viable critter and was recommended to be sent on ahead of the rest of us mortals by an (evil bastard USAF doctor that did abortions on the side), and had her mother strung out and in absolute tears.

In spite of all of that, we chose to trust the the Big Guy upstairs, had the final say and in her mother's words; "Fins or Feathers, we're gonna keep him/her." (as we did not know what was in the "box").

Real long story cut short. Dear Daughter was born, with one nephritic kidney, (swollen like a balloon to nearly 3x normal size with no functioning tissue, only a shell filled with fluid)) and a radioactive contrast dye test was done and the results showed "since nothing could get in" (including antibiotics, if ever needed), if ever an infection set in, it could be a very bad thing...

We ended up with orders to Okinawa and during follow-up at USN hospital at Camp Foster, the Doctor commented after several radiological scans, x-rays and ultrasounds, on the "excellent excise and reconstructive surgery performed on your daughter" (who was one year old at the time), and the very obvious surprise and humbling when we told him, nothing had been done since her birth.

We had been spending every few weeks doing BUN and Creatinine testing up to and including the transfer to Okinawa.

The doctor said; "All scans, x-rays and ultrasound reveal what appears to be, perfect and complete excise and reconstructive surgery, and I state, that if no surgery was accomplished, that I can only surmise, a miracle occurred, as I have never seen, nor studied an occurrence that resulted in such perfection."

He told us that we did not need to continue any further testing, and that our daughter would live a full and long life.

Your story touched me from the start. You have been an inspiration to many forum members, and likely a great many other people who have found your posts in their search of the topics related to your journey.

And I am glad, Para told you early on, to brace up and face the enemy. I don't pretend to know how he had such conviction, but I am glad he made it clear, and grateful you have fought a good fight.

And my hope and prayer that you will be posting, years from now.

But in the here and now, be blessed and enjoy all of the life you can, and bless others as well.

Smile

Merry Christmas from your jewmonkey friend.
