Commissioner Outlaw has an impossible job. The guy criticizing her, former mayor John F. Street, is tucking away on a $150k city pension, playing armchair QB. Outlaw actually seems like the most competent appointee in government. Logical, intelligent, well-spoken, you wonder how she got the job. Outlaw: ... to say it’s a failure of leadership I think not only is it unfair, but I think it’s really easy to sit back and Monday morning quarterback,” Outlaw said. “We’re dealing with raw emotion. The video that was shown on the day of the incident I think is pretty clear. We’re not releasing the body-worn camera footage to try and change hearts and minds, we’re doing it in the spirit of transparency to show we’re not hiding anything.” John "Fake It 'Till You Make It" Street, on the other hand, has sucked off the public tit for decades. Street floated the possibility of being a candidate for statewide office in Pennsylvania. In light of corruption scandals, those prospects never materialized. Time Magazine listed him as one of the three worst big-city mayors in the United States in 2005. - wiki

Tried to link the story from New York Post but couldn't access it. Invalid IP address Same story from Fox news but too spread out and hard to copy and paste. Meat of the story: "New York’s ultra-rich are quietly preparing for civil unrest on Election Day — by hiring armed guards to stand watch over their luxury Manhattan buildings. At the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle, where the penthouse is going for $62.5 million, managers are deploying off-duty cops with “submachine guns” to stand watch, while other wealthy city enclaves are also beefing up protection for residents." https://www.foxnews.com/us/new...ction-day-unrest.amp

You have to be a real piece of shit with no sense of duty when you take a job as an armed guard to the rich who wish to take away those rights from the people who need it the most. _____________

The Tuller concept is not a hard and fast 21 foot rule-the distance can vary greatly depending upon the abilities of the officer and the speed and aggressiveness of the attacker. Speaking from experience, an attacker with an edged weapon or blunt weapon can cover a lot of ground very quickly, especially if it is a suicide by cop. Viewing the video in this instance the officers tried backing out of the kill zone but he kept coming and seemed very determined. In my view the officers responded appropriately. If they had tasers they might have had a chance to stop him with less lethal force but tasers often fail to stop a determined attack. This was a justifiable homicide. HayesGreener- Totally agree! Issue - defense of property/person during looting. Most States prohibit use of deadly force to prevent looting unless there is a threat of bodily harm. How do you suggest business owners protect their proprty, both inventory and fixed assets? Does the city have liability in the event police are ordered to stand down and not prevent, rather specifically allow, looting (Philadelphia just now)? No quarter .308/.223

If your business is open during the looting, and you are present and feel threatened, you have a justifiable defense. Most business owners control their business hours.

https://www.breitbart.com/tech...aham-lincoln-statue/ The University of Wisconsin-Madison student government recently approved a resolution that calls for the removal of a statue of Abraham Lincoln on campus. According to a report by Campus Reform, students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison recently passed a resolution that calls on administrators to remove a statue of Abraham Lincoln. The resolution argues that the statue is a “racist remnant” of “white supremacy.” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sometimes I wonder - Would we be a better country if we had a lot less universities ?

How about not letting the inmates run the asylum. Like more schools coming out with policies as outlined in the letter about "no safe spaces" written by the Dean of U. Chicago a couple years ago that made liberal heads explode. If you want to oppress people with different points of view, go to school the fuck somewhere else! (He didn't actually say that...) https://news.uchicago.edu/site...of_2020_Students.pdf

https://komonews.com/news/loca...y-misdemeanor-crimes SEATTLE — The Seattle City Council is considering new legislation that would create a legal loophole that would make substance addiction, mental illness or poverty a valid legal defense for nearly all misdemeanor crimes committed in the city. The council's consideration of the plan has occurred with virtually no public discussion about the proposal, which has been included in the municipal budgeting process. The council has not, so far, conducted a standalone meeting to discuss the idea. If approved, the ordinance would excuse and dismiss -- essentially legalizing -- almost all misdemeanor crimes committed in Seattle by offenders who could show either: Symptoms of addiction without being required to provide a medical diagnosis; Symptoms of a mental disorder; or Poverty and the crime was committed to meet an "immediate and basic need." For example, if a defendant argued they stole merchandise to sell for cash in order to purchase food, clothes or was trying to scrape together enough money for rent. The accused could not be convicted. The offenses that would be covered by the Seattle ordinance would include just about any crime below the level of a felony while excluding charges of driving under the influence or domestic violence. If Councilwoman Theresa Mosqueda, chairperson of the council's Budget Committee, adds the legislative proposal to the budget, it would be considered by the full council as part of the entire budget. But if Mosqueda opts to not add it to the budget, the legislation could still be approved if five Seattle City Council members agree to add it as an amendment to the budget. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx sounds crazy doesn't it. I don’t think there is anything salvageable in Seattle. My observations indicate that the people are quite happy with their little utopia

So let it be written, so let it be done... |
So far I think most of the neighborhoods like Fremont, Ballard, Wallingford, Alki, West Seattle, etc... have been insulated. Wait until the "protesters" start moving out into those areas - they might not be so happy with their utopia 'veritas non verba magistri'

Try as I might, I can't understand what the hell people are thinking as they vote these idiots into office, over and over again. If the city being overrun by drug-addicted 'homeless' and the riots, property destruction and crime aren't enough to change how they vote, then I guess they like all that stuff. I don't get it.

The Main Thing Is Not To Get Excited |
Sad to say I agree with you. I came here on purpose, worked my whole civilian career here, and If you can love a place that is how I felt about it. Now the financial-legal center of the city is a waste land. About 10 blocks out all is pretty close to normal (the ferry from my little island paradise only lands you with one route out of Dodge, and once your past the homeless camps except for being empty of people it isn't burned yet. The libs I've listened to have a single mantra, Once orange man is indicted everything is going to be groovy. Driving, talking, just looking at Seattle is what it must be like to be in a really bad 70's horror movie. _______________________
