As The Lovely Girlfriend and I tore into a bag of Ruffles, I wondered casually, “why do we keep wolfing these things down?"

Question:
Is it the salty, or the crunchy?

Choices:
Salty
Crunchy

God bless America.

In school when we were taught to read labels, we were told anything that tastes good has any combination of salt, fat, and sugar. (Maybe I'm leaving one other thing out.)

So my vote is salt.

And I like the ridged ruffles specifically for dipping. I can't stand thin broken chips in my dip.

None of the above. I keep reaching into the bag because there are more chips in it.

"Both"

The crunchy texture and the salt. Hard to stop.

Neither. It's the "umami."

I'ma just say, never, ever dip chips in peanut butter. Don't do it. Never. Do. It.

It takes salt, fat, crunch, and the "umami" to a whole 'nother level.

The fact that there continue to be chips in the bag was not an option so I write that in here.

Mmmmm. Delicious salty crunchy fat...

I like the BBQ ones so I can add a little sweet in as well. Chips are the devil...but I love them.

^^^^^^^This!!!! I try to do portion control of whether it is chips, cheese puffs, peanuts, etc by pouring what I want into a container and then only eat that. Sometimes I have filled it back up…..I said “I try” LOL.

None of the above. An open bag of chips gets stale quickly. Must finish the bag in one sitting for maximum tastiness!

QFT, that's why you buy the big bag! And it is OK if you prefer to stand while scarfing down the goodness.

Knowing what good potato chips were like in the 60's and 70's, I have no desire for modern potato chips.
They were my favorite snack back then, but today Chips are nowhere near as good.

I haven't liked chips for many years.

Salt & vinegar has recently become a favorite.
Doesn't matter if it's the barely crispy Lays or kettle cooked super crunchy.
If the flavors good, I'm chowing down.

Most of y'all are too young to remember the classic Lays Potato Chip commercials from years ago.

Betcha can't eat just one!

Here's a blast from the past, one of many Lay's commercials.
