Saw an article which said this is his typical departure --> leave, retire to "be with family / get healthy", take a year off, then get rehired somewhere else, start the shit show again.

That would be fun to watch, as long as he was healthy again. Especially if he took a team from the bottom. Then we can see if he can really recruit and coach.

Not gonna happen. He’s said many times TOSU is his dream job. He’s done.

"But what I didn't want to have happen, and I made this clear to Jeremy, if I am able to go coach, I want to coach at one place, the University of Florida. It would be a travesty, it would be ridiculous to all of a sudden come back and get the feeling back, get the health back, feel good again and then all of a sudden go throw some other colors on my shirt and go coach. I don't want to do that. I have too much love for this University and these players and for what we've built."

Now, go back to 2008 and Meyer's quote "On Wednesday, Meyer told a Florida radio show that Notre Dame is "still my dream job; that hasn't changed."

Well, a healthy Meyer has won rings at UF and OSU, not to mention the conference championship at Utah.

So you tell me, how bad does ND want to lift The Trophy?

I didn’t know he said that about ND. Wow. So now I’m thinking, “when does he start at ND?” Lol

ND has some skill payers and they do play as a unit most of the time. But yeah, I just don’t think they can hang with an Alabama or Clemson. As a casual fan who lives 20 minutes from the campus, they’re fun to watch when they get their stuff together.

ND would love to hold that trophy, but I just don’t think they can get enough depth in recruiting.

Yep. Reading and Writing are part of the curriculum. Tough for some of these recruits to meet the academic standards.

Be funny if end of 2019 Michigan fires Harbaugh-- and hires Meyer. Eek He would then be the Michigan coach in the 2020 Michigan - OSU game.

And of course Michigan being Michigan, Ohio State would win! Big Grin

Wow! Purdue's Rondale Moore is the first freshman to be consensus all-american in the history of the Big Ten.

    Moore Consensus All-American
    Freshman sensation makes history

Football 12/12/2018 3:46:00 PM Tom Schott

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - It has been a historic season for Rondale Moore.

On Wednesday, the Purdue football sensation became the first true freshman consensus All-American in the country since Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson in 2004 and the first Big Ten Conference freshman (true or redshirt) so recognized since freshmen became eligible in 1972.

Moore was a first-team All-American as an all-purpose player by the Associated Press and the Football Writers Association of America and a second-team selection as an athlete by the Sporting News. He also garnered All-America honors from CBS Sports, ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

Moore became the first non-junior or senior Purdue player to earn first-team All-American honors, first by any Boilermaker since defensive end Ryan Kerrigan in 2010 and the 21st consensus All-American in school history (including Leroy Keyes twice).

Furthermore, Moore won the Paul Hornung Award (most versatile player in college football) and the Paul Warfield Award (nation's top receiver) and was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award (nation's outstanding player) and the Biletnikoff Award (nation's outstanding receiver). He was the National Freshman of the Year by CBS Sports.

Moore leads the nation with 103 receptions, the second-most in a season by a Big Ten player. Chris Daniels of Purdue holds the record with 121 in 1999. Moore leads the conference with 1,164 receiving yards (11th nationally and fourth in school history) and 12 receiving touchdowns (tied for seventh nationally and tied for fourth in school history) and ranks second with 2,048 all-purpose yards (fourth nationally and second in school history) and 13 total touchdowns (tied for 11th in school history). Moore boasts seven 100-yard receiving games, tied for the most in a season in Purdue annals and tied for fifth on the career list. He tops the country with 822 yards after catches.

The last Purdue player to lead the Big Ten in receptions was Smith (91) in 2009, and the last to lead the country was running back Rodney Carter (98) in 1985. The only other Boilermaker to lead the country was tight end Dave Young (67) in 1980.

Moore has possessed the football 162 times and is averaging 12.6 yards per touch. He has 30 plays of 20 or more yards, including a 76-yard touchdown rush and a 70-yard scoring reception. Moore is the Boilermakers' third-leading rusher (18 carries for 203 yards, 11.3 average) and tops the team in kickoff returns (30 for 599 yards, 20.0 average) and punt returns (11 for 82 yards, 7.5 average).

    Recap of Big Ten Honors

Moore earned two major Big Ten honors - the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year and the Thompson-Randle El Freshman of the Year. He was the first Boilermaker to be recognized as the Big Ten's best receiver and the fifth to be selected the top freshman. He was named Big Ten Newcomer of the Year by the AP.

Moreover, Moore earned first-team All-Big Ten honors as a wide receiver by the coaches and media, becoming the first Purdue player at that position so honored since Keith Smith in 2009. Moore was named first-team return specialist by the coaches and second-team by the media, as well. He earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors four times – following games against Northwestern, No. 23 Boston College, No. 2 Ohio State and Indiana.

    Music City Bowl

Purdue is preparing to play Auburn in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl in Nashville on Dec. 28. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. ET (12:30 p.m. local time), and the game will be televised by ESPN.

Purdue has accounted for 11,000 tickets - 3,000 more than the bowl's original allotment - assuring the Boilermakers of their largest bowl game crowd since 20,000 Purdue fans attended the 2004 Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

Talking heads have to fill the next 2.5 weeks of air-time so there will be plenty of predictions.

I usually make predictions in this thread the day before or the day of.

Feel free to make predictions any time.

I love reading your predictions and your analysis. I just didn't know if you do all the games at once or if you did them as they are scheduled.

I honestly don't watch enough games to give a reasonable prediction. And, I'm too much of a homer. I can't do it.

Name the BIG team 34, and the other guy, 28.
    There, that's mine. lol

    Dec 26th Quick Lane Bowl:
MN @ Georgia Tech at 4:15 CT in Detroit on ESPN - Depending on which odds service you believe GA Tech is 5.5 to 6.5 point favorites (I'm using 6.5). Both teams are pretty even on defense, MN has the better pass offense, GA Tech is better at scoring, and GA Tech is much better at rushing. They have faced zero common opponents. Let's look at their last 8 games:
  • The Yellow Jackets won 6 of their last 8 games including wins at VA Tech, Miami, and VA.
  • The Golden Gophers won 3 of their last 8 games (IU, Purdue, and Wisconsin). They've been very Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde this season as you never know which Gopher team is going to show up - the one who whipped Purdue and Wisc or the one who got whipped by NE and IL.

I think PJ Fleck will have the Golden Gophers prepared and I like the fact that MN's last game was shutting down the best running back in college football so I'm going the Gophers to pull off the upset.

Wrap-up Dec 26th Quick Lane Bowl:
MN @ Georgia Tech at 4:15 CT in Detroit on ESPN - I was correct in predicting the Golden Gophers pulling off the upset as they dominated this game wire to wire. Ibrahim was a beast with 31 carries for 224 yards and 2 TDs; Johnson snagged 4 catches with two being TDs; and QB Morgan had a steady game with 132 yards passing, 2 passing TDs, and 0 INTs. The Gopher defense held a very good rushing team to 206 yards rushing (they avg 335) and 77 yards passing.

Kudos to MN for the first Big Ten win of this bowl season.

Dec 27th - New Era Pinstripe Bowl:
Miami @ WI at 4:15 CT in New York, NY (Yankee Stadium) on ESPN. Both teams are 7-5, and depending on which odds service you believe the Convicts/Hurricanes are 2 to 2.5 point favorites (I'm using 2.5). They have zero common opponents, but what they have in common is that both were expected to have much better seasons. On offense both teams are pretty equal passing (i.e. mediocre), and WI is much better rushing (helps having the best running back in college football and a huuuuge o-line). On defense, the Convicts give up about 1 touchdown less per game as well as less rush and pass yardage.

I like that WI's back-up QB Coen is starting as Hornibrook had too many late season concussions and I think it's a good decision for his future.

As much as I'd like to see the Badgers win, I think the Convicts will win and cover.
