Staring back from the abyss

| Around these parts, normally there's no need for AC except for a few weeks in August. As I get older though, anything much over 80 and I'm dying. 75 is about my limit. Last year I bought one of the portable units because I have side sliding windows that won't accommodate a window unit. It works good enough, but it won't get me down below about 75. Higher as the temps go up. They also suck up electricity like it's going out of style. It damn near doubled my electric bill last summer.

If you don’t pipe the exhaust outside the space you are trying to cool with a portable you are actually making the room warmer. |

Green grass and high tides

| Yes, it is piped outside but the vent tube still gets pretty warm.
