Blume9mmPortable ac units vs window banger
Steel, from what you say it sounds like propane is the way to go with the generator... I'm not versed in these but I suspect just because they say duel fuel does not mean it is easy to switch back and forth... (tell me if I'm wrong) just remember you need to run that puppy at least once a month for a while to make sure she runs when you want it to. I think you will have much less chance of problems with it if you just stick with propane....

MikeNHHad to use the portable one in my first apartment and hated it. Loud, all the hot bits are inside and I feel like it didn't work nearly as well as window units.

GustoferAround these parts, normally there's no need for AC except for a few weeks in August. As I get older though, anything much over 80 and I'm dying. 75 is about my limit.
Last year I bought one of the portable units because I have side sliding windows that won't accommodate a window unit. It works good enough, but it won't get me down below about 75. Higher as the temps go up. They also suck up electricity like it's going out of style. It damn near doubled my electric bill last summer.

It is not an ideal set up but is the best we have and it does help.
If you don’t pipe the exhaust outside the space you are trying to cool with a portable you are actually making the room warmer.

old rugged crossYes, it is piped outside but the vent tube still gets pretty warm.
