We hit them about 5 times a year. I prefer Whataburger but we have to wait til winter when we head south.

I agree, over cooked and overpriced. The peanuts and fries are redeeming.

When ordering the fries, ask for them "well done". They'll leave them in the fryer a little longer and they'll be a little crisper and not floppy.

You guys must have some pretty bad cooks at your Five Guys. But inconsistency isn't unexpected since they are often hiring kids.

All of the ones around here are great. It's better then anything I have gotten at a Whataburger. I get the double bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, mayo, pickles, tomato. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. Fries are crisp and tasty.

That ends up being about a 2000 calorie meal with 170 grams of carbs, so it's not a surprise that I need to take a nap just about every time I eat it. Cool

About the only "fast food" I like better is Penn Station.

There is apparently only one in the Dallas area, and I don't go over there very often. I've got a Whataburger only a mile away (I like their sausage biscuits) and a Griff's within 3 miles (they make a good burger and their fries are also good). My local BK (1/2 mile) had a fire and is closed for now.

In Houston, we have a chain called Becks Prime. Same genre of restaurant (burger place your order at the window and they call your number when its ready). Juicy, flavorful burgers every time and every location I've been to.

National chain, I like Fuddrucker's better. I've had it in multiple states and its much more consistently a juicy, flavorful burger.

There's one in McKinney, intersection of Custer and 380. I could almost walk there from home in northern tip of Stonebridge Ranch.

As someone points out below, other locations in DFW, but not here. This was a MooYah, I somehow blended in my head with a Five Guys near my earlier home in Bham. Oops/

Five Guys don’t offer green Chile on their burgers. In New Mexico.

Hell with ‘em.

To be honest, I can't qualify as a connoisseur of burgers--I like the meat well done and only put yellow mustard and lettuce on them, and almost any place can satisfy those requirements (except Hardee's--long story). The fact that some place doesn't offer this or that as toppings just doesn't sway me. I like my fries a little limp but not raw, and without weird flavorings--just salt.

THIS. Better than MCdonalds, BK, Wendy's.....but not by much......A burger is only good to me if it's grilled.....I don't care for the flat top cooked burgers personally.

Five Guys has the best fast food burger here in Indy, we don't have In n Out or What a Burgers here.

The burgers are slightly better than Culvers, but the fries blow anyone else's around here away.

I've never had a bland, dry, or flavorless 5 Guys burger, if anything I've given them up because they're too greasy for me.

Non-chain places.
There are at least a dozen Bars, Sports Bars and Mom & Pop places within 5 miles of me that make burgers vastly better than any of the chains.

Five Guys started locally, and the first time I ate at one, the hamburger reminded me of the ones my mother used to make: hand-formed, greasy, a little charred and topped with the things I liked.

Rumor has it that Mark Mosely, former placekicker for the Washington Redskins (and the last straight-ahead kicker) was one of the "money men" behind the venture.

It used to surprise me to see Five Guys restaurants, because I never thought they'd grow larger than the neighborhood. Now I see them at airports, sports arenas, and shopping centers all over. There's one just 2-3 miles from me.

In my opinion, they've been eclipsed by the "craft burger" joints. In my area, there are Burger21, BGR Burger Joint, Melt, and several others. But Five Guys doesn't present itself as a "craft burger," but just a homemade burger, like my mom's.

Certainly a step up from the Carls McWendyKings.

Our local Fuddruckers is far more "Meh" than "Juicy". Frankly Five Guys is much better. Unfortunately my nearest is 120 miles the other is 140 miles.

I like "In n Out"but none even remotely close by.
