Great news, I had e-mailed her principal and her teachers this morning. The camp takes place in November and is a full week of school that she will miss. I asked if she would be able to complete assignments in advance and informed them that the selection camp had mandatory study hall hours built into the schedule. I was happy to see her principal's response. First was congratulations. Second was an offer of support from the school. Third was thanks for letting them know in advance. And fourth was assurances that the time in camp would be viewed as "Personal Days" and not an absence.

We did setup a Facebook page for her as an archer so people could track her progress and she could thank her supporters. Unfortunately we took it down after some childish behavior and disruptive threats from a couple of local coaches. If she does make the team, we'll post it back up again. In the modern age, one of the requirements of being a member on the team is to have a positive social media presence.

Way to go Maya!! Smile

My wife and I had absolutely no clue that shooting a single arrow at the AZ Fish & Game Expo would lead to this. Neither one of us had any idea that we would become so involved with coaching, officiating and being part of the state and local organizations either. Our daughter kind of validates one of our philosophies of parenting; expose kids to as much as you can, see what sticks and let them follow their passion.

Lastly, thanks to everyone for your offers of support. I am deeply humbled. If a fundraising opportunity comes up in the future I will mention it. That said, I want to remain respectful of the rules of the forum and not abuse my place here.

Where I come from those asshats would no longer be coaching. Wasn't there some punishment meted out for their actions?

Blah, blah, blah.....yea, screw you, we're here for Maya. Razz

Following your posts over the years I don't think you are capable of any other course of action other than helping Maya reach her dreams. A lot of us here have your back and will support you in any way you will allow us to.
