Daughter & Archery - Dream Team Selection Camp Invitation Login/Join

Well my daughter is over the top excited and I'm over the top proud. She just received her registration invitation to the Compound Junior Dream Team Selection Camp!

The Junior Dream Team was started by USA Archery for archers showing potential but not yet minimum age for the Olympics. A similar program was started last year for compound archers. It is a 36 member team that competes on a national level and has access to the coaches and facilities at the Olympic training centers. The selection camp will be held this November here in Phoenix.

Trying not to think ahead but that's next to impossible. On one hand it's an incredible opportunity for her, on the other hand it's a huge financial and time commitment from us. There is a mandatory tournament and camp schedule if she does make the team. But she will be working, training, and competing with the best in the country.

There's also something that makes me proud as a dad thinking my daughter could be wearing a red, white and blue jersey with her name on it along with the magical letters, USA!

My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

You GO, Maya!!!

Is it acceptable for young athletes such as Maya to accept donations to help defray training/travel expenses?

If so, I'm in for $50! Just say the word after checking the rules carefully! Wink

I appreciate the offer, but as of now I have to decline. It can get to be confusing as far as young athletes accepting gifts. We're very fortunate in that her personal coach is on the staff with USA Archery. He is very familiar with sponsorships and staff shooter agreements and how they may affect future athletic eligibility.

I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say that we'll be damned if money will stand in the way Maya's ability to continue climbing the archery ladder. There must be a way to help without compromising her NCAA status.

Her birthday? Christmas? Your birthday? Just let us know and don't be shy about it.

As we have all watched her progress through your great stories, I'd be glad to chip in to support.

I am looking forward to the post from you one day when you tell us she will be going to the olympics...and even more hearing when she wins gold.

Is it possible or permissible for either you, Maya or both of you to have a fee subscription blog? I would certainly be interested in paying a subscription fee to have access. And I am sure that others here would subscribe.

I'd love to support her with a donation as well. As someone already said, don't be shy about the idea. She is family to this forum now and we want to help if we can.

When you and Maya first got involved in archery did you have any inkling that she would be on this fantastic road?

Yes, it has been awesome to be a fly on the wall so to speak while a young prodigy works toward Olympic competition. Bravo Zulu to her and to you as well.

Kudos all around.

Way to go Maya.

If there does get to be fund raiser, bake sale or carwash :-) I'm in, like several others are.

I've been an archer (mediocre at best) and I truly appreciate the privilege of being allowed to follow You and Maya on this incredible journey.
