Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is facing allegations that he copied parts of his 1995 doctoral thesis at Oxford University without proper credit. The report comes as he's seeking election to remain the country's PM next month, when Canadian voters head to the polls on April 28.

The National Post reviewed Carney’s thesis, "The Dynamic Advantage of Competition," with three university experts, who found at least 10 instances of apparent plagiarism.

The experts told the National Post that Carney copied full quotes, paraphrased ideas, and slightly modified sentences from four different sources without giving proper credit.

"He's just directly repeating without quotations. That’s plagiarism," said Geoffrey Sigalet, a professor at the University of British Columbia who helps handle academic misconduct cases, told the National Post.

Carney’s campaign responded to the National Post with a statement from his former Oxford supervisor, Margaret Meyer, who dismissed the allegations. "I see no evidence of plagiarism in the thesis," she said. "Mark’s work was thoroughly researched and approved by a faculty committee."

Meyer also told the National Post that "it is typical that overlapping language appears" if sources are regularly referenced.

Oxford University defines plagiarism as "presenting work or ideas from another source as your own without full acknowledgment." Another professor, speaking anonymously to the National Post, said Carney’s thesis appears to meet that definition.

Carney’s campaign spokesperson, Isabella Orozco-Madison, called the accusations an "irresponsible mischaracterization" of his work.

One of the key examples from the National Post’s report shows Carney closely copying a passage from economist Michael E. Porter’s 1990 book, "The Competitive Advantage of Nations." On page 206 of his thesis, Carney wrote: "First, government intervention can impede international competition and artificially support domestic profits." This is nearly identical to Porter’s original wording.

Carney also reportedly copied sections from Jeremy C. Stein’s 1989 article in The Quarterly Journal of Economics and H.S. Shin’s 1994 article in The RAND Journal of Economics, with only minor wording changes.

The possible plagiarism appears throughout the thesis. "It’s all over the dissertation, not just one part," said Sigalet. Even small wording changes without proper citation are still considered plagiarism.

Oxford University warns that plagiarism is a serious offense that can lead to penalties, including expulsion. "Even when you reword something, you still need to cite the source," Sigalet added.

Carney, a former Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor, has had a high-profile career, including top roles at Goldman Sachs and Brookfield Asset Management. He has faced criticism for his elite background and globalist tendencies.

However, plagiarism allegations have led to resignations and revoked degrees for politicians and academics in the past.

Last year, Harvard University’s president Claudine Gay stepped down amid plagiarism claims, though she denied wrongdoing.

Carney is an outspoken critic of President Trump amid ongoing tariff battles between Canada and the U.S.

Worse Than Trudeau: Canadians Should Expect Disaster With Carney In Charge

Justin Trudeau's far-left regime in Canada has finally come to an end as the politician exits leadership in disgrace. His legacy includes authoritarian governance during the pandemic, whereby he threw Christian church goers and pastors in prison for refusing to stop congregations. He called for mass forced vaccinations, and he locked the bank accounts of protesters speaking out against the covid mandates. His admin compared people donating to the cause to "terrorists".

His socialist economic policies helped to exacerbate Canada's inflation crisis and his open immigration policies greatly expanded the the flood of third-world foreigners, driving up housing prices, crushing the labor market and straining social services. By most accounts, the majority of Canadians were ecstatic to see Trudeau exit the stage.

But what if they still haven't learned their lesson? How is that even possible?

According to recent polls for the 2025 election set for April 28th, it is likely that Canadians have very short memories or they're gluttons for punishment. Why? Because Mark Carney and the Liberal Party are projected to make considerable gains. Carney has rebranded himself as a "centrist" in order to win public favor, but nothing could be further from the truth. Mark Carney is, in fact, worse than Trudeau on every level.

What should Canadians expect under a Carney regime? More mass immigration, not less. Higher inflation and a suffocating housing market. Increasing political and economic tensions with the US, which Canada is dependent on for 75% of its export market (and there is no replacement). Policies pressuring Canadians into a cashless system. The detrimental institution of carbon controls and climate change rules for industry and energy. And, even less national sovereignty as Canada is made more beholden to the EU.

Lets start with immigration...

While Carney claims he wants caps on immigration, his advisor choices suggest Canadians will get more of the same. The central banker has tapped Mark Wiseman, co-founder of the Century Initiative lobby group as part of his policy council. The Century Initiative under the former BlackRock executive publicly endorsed the Trudeau government’s moves to take in 500,000 new immigrants per year by 2025.

It should be noted that as Canada increased immigration their economy suffered exponential decline. Between 2015 and 2024, Canada’s ranking in the Human Development Index plummeted from 9th to 18th, while the country fell behind Italy in the average growth of real GDP per capita. Canada's housing market and social services are essentially broken.

And how about individual freedom?

It's no secret that the Liberal Party widely supported the lockdowns and mandatory vaccinations. However, where did Carney stand on the issue?

Carney acted as an "informal adviser" to Trudeau throughout the covid event and supported the mandates wholeheartedly. In an opinion article for The Globe And Mail titled 'It’s Time To End The Sedition In Ottawa By Enforcing The Law And Following The Money', Carney wrote in reference to the Trucker Protests against the mandates:

"No one should have any doubt...This is sedition. That’s a word I never thought I’d use in Canada. It means incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority.”

“The constant blaring of horns at all hours, the harassment of people, the culture of fear have been making residents’ lives hell, will bankrupt our businesses and if left unchecked would help achieve the Convoy’s goal of undermining our democracy...Anyone sending money to the Convoy should be in no doubt: you are funding sedition. Foreign funders of an insurrection interfered in our domestic affairs.”

These are the words of an authoritarian, using "democracy" as a cover to institute a sweeping crackdown on public freedoms.

Where does Carney stand on the economy?

Mark Carney is a long time Davo elitist, and as such he is an adherent of Klaus Schwab's "4th Industrial Revolution" theory and the concept of the "Great Reset". Specifically, Carney is an avid champion of the WEF's climate change agenda and their efforts to make "climate consciousness" inseparable from business culture. Meaning, Carney will undoubtedly bury Canada in climate controls and carbon taxes, snuffing out their industry and energy base just as the globalists have been doing in Europe.

Furthermore, Carney is deeply involved in the push for national and global Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). In his 2021 book 'Values", Carney calls for revolutionary centralization of the global monetary system and the launch of CBDCs as the new standard. He has actively campaigned against cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and any form of decentralized money, claiming instead that the future requires a global digital currency to replace the dollar system (NOTE: Carney did not come up with this idea, this has been a ongoing plan within the BIS and IMF for decades).

“If properly designed, a CBDC could serve all the functions to which private cryptocurrencies and stablecoins aspire while addressing the fundamental legal and governance issues that will, in time, undermine those alternatives...”

At bottom, Carney is calling for a cashless society controlled by the banking oligarchy. Without cash or an independent form of trade, all personal economic freedom dies. Carney licks his chops over this prospect when he states (in reference to the covid crisis):

“With fear on the march, people were willing to surrender to Hobbes’ ‘Leviathan’ such basic rights as the freedom to leave their homes. And so it is with money. People will support the delegation to independent central banks of the tough decisions that are necessary to maintain the value of money provided the authorities deliver monetary and financial stability..."

This is not the man Canadians should be voting for if they have any interest in changing the current Orwellian path their country is on. Critics claim that it's Donald Trump's tariffs that are to blame for the shift in the polls in Carney's favor. Yet, if Carney is elected he would be the most disastrous choice in negotiating a settlement with the US. The situation will only become more ugly for Canada in every way.

This is not a "new boss, same as the old boss" scenario. Carney is far higher up on the totem pole of degradation than Trudeau and much more devious.

Point in case - the trade deficit with Canada. Big sore point. A very high percentage of that trade deficit is from the US buying cheap electricity from Ontario and oil/gas from Western Canada.

If you removed those two items, the deficit is trivially small.

The tariffs on dairy - 200+% - its never been invoked because the minimum threshold has never come close to being met.

Conservatives had all the momentum in 2024 going into 2025, Trudeau was on everyone's shit-list a wave of resignations from his cabinet drove the nails into his coffin until his own stepping-down at the start of 2025. Then the over-the-top tariff talk started and DJT couldn't help himself but made the 51st state wise-crack. The Parliament was ripe for Conservatives taking control and Poilivre was poised to be the new PM..instead, he and his party are identified as GOP-light, which for Canucks the rage is palpable. I hope there's a surprise and things balance out but, right now it appears as if the political status quo will remain.

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre urged Canadians last week to read a “jaw-dropping” federal report that warns the nation could be headed for large-scale economic and social collapse.

“People may start to hunt, fish and forage on public lands,” the report reads, saying in another part that the scenario “paints a picture of Canada in 2040 in which most Canadians find themselves stuck in the socioeconomic conditions of their birth and many face the very real possibility of downward social mobility,”

Speaking about the report last Wednesday, Poilievre put the blame for this “plausible” scenario on the shoulders of the Liberals and the massive spike in the cost of living since taking power in 2015.

“Can you imagine, in Canada, where people are to the point where they can’t even go into a grocery store any more and they actually have to go forage on public lands in order to scrape out an existence?” Poilievre asked, noting how short the timeline is for this scenario. “It’s not for a hundred years from now, it’s for 15 years from now.”

“Is that the future you want for your kids? That is not change. That is more of the inflationary spiral the Liberals have brought us over the lost decade,” Poilievre charged.

“Predictions about housing shortages, mental health crises and a loss of hope for many Canadians are already the reality,” the Conservative leader continued.

Poilievre’s warning comes after Canada’s most vocal taxpayer watchdog, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) group recently slammed Prime Minister Mark Carney’s new Liberal Party 2025 election plan “Canada Strong” as “irresponsible” for including billions in new inflationary spending promises.

To the surprise of nobody, Canada's liberal party has won Monday's national elections - with voters electing Mark Carney to a full term as the next Prime Minister according to national broadcaster CBC/Radio Canada.

According to CTV, Carney's liberals have won a minority (vs. majority).

As of 10:51 p.m EDT, the Liberals had won or were leading in 161 out of 343 ridings. Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives are set to remain in opposition, with 137 ridings so far. Parties need 172 seats to form a majority.

Poilievre is the fourth consecutive Conservative leader to lose to the Liberals, who have remained in power since 2015.

Structurally from an American economic perspective, the lens through which President Trump is primarily focused, it really doesn’t matter which of the leading Canadian politicians wins the election. The financial dependency on the USA is going to be severed.

President Trump hits Canada with an approximately 50% tariff. Let’s say an import widget from Canada costs the purchaser/importer $100 CAD + 50% tariff, now $150 CAD.

$1 CAD = 0.70¢ USD

Without U.S. tariff, it costs $70 USD to purchase the $100 CAD widget.

With the U.S tariff it would take $105 USD to purchase $150 Canadian widget

However, due to economic policy, Canada’s dependence on the USA market and the tariff battle, the Canadian currency drops around 30%. $1 CAD now equals 0.50¢ USD

With currency drop it now costs $50 USD to purchase the original $100 Canadian widget. $75 USD with tariff.

BEFORE: $70 USD without U.S. tariff, or AFTER: $75 USD with 50% U.S. tariff. A net change of $5.

But wait, back to Mark Carney’s plan. As stated in his tariff policy, the prime minister will take income from the Canadian side of the tariff equation (countervailing duties) to subsidize the impacted export sector. Just like China and the EU did in ’17, ’18 and ’19, the Canadian government plans to offset the difference to the U.S. consumer by subsidizing the exporter with import tariff income. All of this is done to retain access to USA consumers.

The final outcome, the U.S. purchaser is back to the original price of $70, only now that same outcome is evident with an invisible $50 tariff.

This is what China tried to do. This is what the EU tried to do. This is what Canada is now planning to do to retain access to the U.S. market while they look for alternatives.

But wait, it gets better….

….. As the Canadian financial sector evaluates the likely drop in the CAD currency, they seek safe harbor investment to retain the value of their money. The reciprocal tariffs are hitting every currency. The Canadian finance sector purchases dollar and dollar-backed assets to retain their value. This approach increases the value of the U.S dollar.

Do you really think President Trump gives a hoot about PM Carney’s feelings? Quite frankly, Trump would not want to be bothered by Canada while he is working on a much, much bigger geopolitical economic dynamic.

Go back and reference the renegotiation of the NAFTA for reference. President Trump didn’t care if Canada (Trudeau/Freeland) agreed or did not agree with the USMCA. Trump was quite willing, heck he was hoping, to just deal with Canada on a bilateral trade system.
