OK, having a long arm doesn't bother me but adding the camera makes the situation suspect.

My problem is with him intentionally trying to get attention. The fact that he is wearing a go pro and is going out his way to stop to wave at people and pet their dogs with a goofy smile on his stupid face in an effort to draw attention to himself tells me his is an asshole.

Precisely. I don't know what point people like him a trying to make, though.

I've heard the counter-argument before. He's doing his part to normalize open-carry. Roll Eyes

I open carry. I will not however open carry a long gun, despite my god given right to do so. Why? Because by the time I need to carry that long gun openly, people already know its needed. I can not think of any time carrying a long gun outside of range, hunting, or hiking, is a good idea.

This.

I know people who think this kind of stuff is either some kind of cutting edge protest, or a fun way of provoking liberal outrage, and they give me grief that I don't support it. My response is the same: Just because you can do something stupid doesn't mean you should.

Personally, I think its a point you made. He is a liberal wanting to fan the flames of anti-gun sentiment today.

It's asshats like this that brought massive awareness to the 30.07 restrictions put in place by many business owners when open carry became legal in Texas. So much so that even some of the more "liberal" business owners setup a 30.06 sign in addition, when there never was one at all. Not that I would ever open carry in the first place, but cockwads such as this moron have severely limited my ability to do so if I chose.

I'm guessing things might be a bit different in your part of the woods, Ed.

Carrying rifles and shotguns in urban settings is done usually for effect.

I have to agree with everyone that it is kind of stupid.

Plus the Charlotte PD officers were busy today starting bright an early this morning.

So, the last thing they needed was someone trying to prove a point.

That looks like a really nice place to run though. Where is that located in the city.

I need a nice place to run to help meditate from work.

Thanks, that is understandable. I see town about once a week and don't give a second thought what someone is carrying, unless it is one I would like to have.

Well, the country would be better off if it were more like Wyoming. Instead, we get Bed, Bath & Beyond and Starbucks on every corner.

These type of people piss me off and give gun owners a bad rap. There is no need to do that. I am sure he is a “constitutionalist” hoping to get stopped by a cop so he can spout off his rehearsed constitution speech.

The damned thing is that people see these idiots and call 911. We have to respond to every 911 call. We're at something around 69 murders for the year, and robberies/shootings on the walking trails aren't unheard of.

Assholes like this set us up to fail.

Sad state of affairs we live in. When I was a teenager I rode my bike down the main road with a rifle over my shoulder and have a state trooper drive by and not even bat an eye, and I'm not that old.

Don’t worry Chongo I didn’t call 911. I did call for this guy though. He was hammered and it looked like someone laid him out after the last Panthers home game....gotta love my neighborhood.

I'm with you...I carried a rifle all over the place, either a .22 or a 30-30, as I was growing up.

But that was in the woods on a 300 acre farm, and on the country roads around it.
