That's kind of an odd thing to say

Have you never eaten a good pumpkin pie? I know there are a lot of bad ones out there. Any commercial/store bought pumpkin pie I've ever eaten was not good, just heavy and too much spice and not creamy/custardy. The classic recipe off the Libby's can made with evaporated milk is still the best one to me.

I was exaggerating some, I just don't like them

The Buttermilk pie has me intrigued, I need to try it

Like several of you, I love this pie. My wife, alas, does not care for it at all.

Olallieberry, but that’s a favorite pie all year ‘round, not just Thanksgiving. We pick the berries when ripe, Mrs. slosig makes up several pie fillings, putting each one (that doesn’t get baked then and there) in a gallon freezer ziplock bag and freezes it. Makes it easy to make the crust, pull one out of the freezer, thaw it out, dump in, and bake the pie.

She always make pumpkin pie too, and she likes pumpkin pie. Every few years I’ll take a small sliver to confirm that while she makes a great pumpkin pie, pumpkin pie isn’t one of my favorites.

That’s okay though, I’m glad that she makes a great pumpkin pie and most of the family like pumpkin pie. Gives me less competition for the Olallie. Big Grin

A southern dessert, I first tried it maybe 30 years ago and when I moved to Texas, it instantly became the official pie of our household. Simply made custard pie using eggs, sugar, butter, buttermilk, etc. We have a place nearby, Buttermilk Sky Pies that makes an excellent one.

For whatever reason my mom always made lemon meringue and pumpkin pies for the holidays; my wife carries on the tradition.

Pretty much this.
I’m not a big fan of most berry pies but my dear departed Dad’s pecan recipe (he owned a restaurant) is one of my lifelong faves. Pumpkin is a close second. Much to the chagrin of my waistline, my wife loves to bake.

Been a long time since I've had mincemeat pie. I think Grandma used to make them, way back.

I look for pecan pies at the dinner, but sweet potato pies are usually there in abundance.

I like my wife’s pumpkin pie. I like her Apple pie just as well though.

Once at my ex’s mom’s Thanksgiving dinner I grabbed a big slice of what I thought was pumpkin pie. Then I took a bite. It was nasty sweet potato pie. Tasted like dirt in a pie crust.
