Lost our little girl today. She was just shy of 13 as best as we can tell. We got her @ 6 months old in July of '06 from the local pound.

She was the sweetest little animal I have ever known. Not an aggressive bone in her body. Raise your voice in the room, she scooted out.

Always happy, never met anyone or any animal she didn't love. Here she is making friends at a farm.

She slept in our bed. As a small puppy the first night we got her, she put her front paws on our bed and cried so hard, we let her in, she got under the sheets like it was normal and she's been there every night ever since.

She was a late riser, never getting up for good until after 9. She'd get up with my wife for her early shift @ 5a, then when she left, right back into bed with me.

Always a loving creature, here she is giving me a pile of smooches.

She had various medical issues, but we were on top of it, until a week ago Friday. She wouldn't wake up. Eventually she came around and we got her to the vet, but after some treatment she appeared to be getting better and then a few days later she started vomiting and refused to eat.

X rays, sonogram, etc, the vet gave us hope, but she shut down and it tore us up watching her suffer - without complaint.

We gave her pain meds and they helped, but she kept declining. Today we could not stand to watch her suffer any longer and were upset that we had put it off as long as we did.

Tonight she rests in the arms of God, at least I believe a just Lord would not have it any other way.

Some will find this foolish to weep for a dog, but I assure you that if you had known her, you just might too.

It comforts me to think that she might be watching over us.

BTW, she was an awful watch dog. She'd hear something, do the pack huff thing and look at me. If I didn't respond quickly enough, she'd do it again, look at the source of noise and look at me again.

I loved this dog! She was a good girl.

I weep like a child, then I'm OK, then I weep.

Time heals. We were blessed to have had the opportunity to give her a home.

Our time together is too short. The heartbreak when they go is overwhelming.

As you said, time will take the edge off the pain and the good memories will stay with you.

God Speed, furkid, God Speed.

Sounds to me like your human pets cared about you very much.

Funny how one of God’s gentlest, most endearing blessings can enrich our lives by just being with us. We’re feeling the loss of our Coco girl and as far as we can tell, only the fond memories can take the edge off losing a good pet family member.

I’m so sorry for your loss. The love of a dog equals to a child (IMHO). Rest easy she’s in a better place.

There is no shame in crying like a baby over the loss of a pet like that, we all do. Just know that you have her a great life full of love and joy. Stay strong.

Sorry to read this and thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures. She enjoyed a wonderful life with you and your family and obviously was treated as a member of the family. That is a very special relationship and the wonderful memories of being together will be with you forever.

Sorry for your loss my friend. Putting a pup down to prevent them from suffering, is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. You would think after doing it so many times in my short 40 years would get easier, but it doesn't.

You took one of God's creatures that someone tossed out like trash, spoiled it rotten and loved it. Take comfort in knowing you have a one way ticket to heaven. My old man used to say that before he passed.
