He points this out like it is a bad thing. Apparently, at the Obama school of diplomacy, you are taught it is preferable to orally service our enemies, and pay them billions for the opportunity... Must be surprising to see strength and determination and patriotism when you don’t even know how to spell those words.

The Obama administration flack chided Ambassador Haley for attending what he called “the Tony Soprano School of Diplomacy.” “You extort people to get them to go along with your point of view,”

MSNBC Smears America for Using ‘Mafia’ Style Tactics at the U.N.

As a sign of friendship, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley invited those members of the United Nations that didn’t vote against the United States on Thursday to a special reception at the start of the new year. On Friday, MSNBC found it comical that the U.S. would thank those who respected its sovereignty and right to choose where to place its embassy and ridiculed the Ambassador and the Trump administration.

“’Exercise our right as a sovereign nation,’ used by Nikki Haley and used against, I guess, the United States. What do you make of all this,” host Chris Jansing asked former Obama State Department Under Secretary turned MSNBC Analyst Richard Stengel.

The Obama administration flack chided Ambassador Haley for attending what he called “the Tony Soprano School of Diplomacy.” “You extort people to get them to go along with your point of view,” he mocked.

New Sheriff in town. We've stopped placating our enemies and moved to "our foot/your ass" diplomacy.

Lol that would work. Or extra housing for the Democrats, killing tow birds with one stone.

I have to also question why any country would abstain? They don’t have the balls to cast a vote, or they didn’t want on record how they voted. That was the way Odumbo voted when he was a senator, just not vote for any controversial bill so he was not on record...well that and we all know now it was also because he has no balls.

I was kinda thinking it would be simple?

U.N. 'Hey Israel, Where is that capitol city thing of yours?'

Israel 'Why it is located in Jerusalem.'

U.N. 'Are you sure it is not in Tel Aviv?'

Israel 'Pretty sure.' (checks map) 'It hasn't moved.'

U.N. 'Hey everybody! The capitol has been Jerusalem all this time! WTF!'

For a good part of our "diplomatic history," much "diplomacy" was accomplished when errant Presidentes For Life would wake up, stretch, open their balcony doors, and take note of American warships anchored in the harbors of their errant capital cities, warships that weren't there the night before.

Much Obama-era "diplomacy" was accomplished by career FSOs anchored on their knees in the highway rest-stops of errant capitals. Figuratively speaking, of course.

We need more people in DC like her. Israel is America's only true ally in the middle east. The Palestinians are nothing but terrorists who wish to wipe Israel and the west off the map. Fuck them.

I spent the best years of my youthful life fighting against the forces that had kept German divided, and three solid years and many other visits.

It was "my boss", President Ronald Regan, who was seen much like President Trump by the leftest in the beginning, as a has been B movie actor from Hollywood, and of no consequence to world affairs who was key to the bringing down the Iron curtain, the Berlin wall, the freedom of Eastern Europe, the reunification of Germany, and ended the siege of Berlin.

Banshee owes America an ass kissing.

So, he may choose any time at his convenience to kiss mine.

President Trump is having a similar world wide impact to this time, as has not been seen for almost 40 years. And this is not even the finish of year one.

As Para said before, this is the end of the beginning.

Now we forge forward and take back the land, as it were, and hope that other world leaders understand sucking hind tit is not a given, but where the weak choose to suckle.

And that, Banshee, et al, is how President Trump turned this "meaningless" vote into a perfect opportunity to let the slime in the UN know that they are screwing with the wrong people.

But, hey, what do we know? We're only the people responsible for putting Donald Trump in office , thereby keeping Hillary Clinton out of office, so what do we know? We're nothing more than unsophisticated halfwits in fly-over country. How can we possibly even presume to hold an opinion on these oh so complex matters?

We the deplorable, hobbits...and proud of it! Big Grin

The British diplomat and naval thinker James Cable spelled out the nature of gunboat diplomacy in a series of works published between 1971 and 1993. In these, he defined the phenomenon as "the use or threat of limited naval force, otherwise than as an act of war, in order to secure advantage or to avert loss, either in the furtherance of an international dispute or else against foreign nationals within the territory or the jurisdiction of their own state."[2] He further broke down the concept into four key areas:

Definitive Force: the use of gunboat diplomacy to create or remove a fait accompli.

Purposeful Force: application of naval force to change the policy or character of the target government or group.

Catalytic Force: a mechanism designed to buy a breathing space or present policy makers with an increased range of options.

Expressive Force: use of navies to send a political message.

Interestingly, this aspect of gunboat diplomacy is undervalued and almost dismissed by Cable.

Gunboat diplomacy comes in contrast to the views held prior to the 18th century influenced by Hugo Grotius, De Jure Belli ac Pacis, in which he circumscribed the right to resort to force with what he described as "temperamenta".

“Peace through Strength”. In 1980, Ronald Reagan used the phrase during his election challenge against Jimmy Carter, accusing the incumbent of weak, vacillating leadership that invited enemies to attack the USA and its allies.[7][8] Reagan later considered it one of the mainstays of his foreign policy as President.[9] In 1983, he explained it thus:

"We know that peace is the condition under which mankind was meant to flourish. Yet peace does not exist of its own will. It depends on us, on our courage to build it and guard it and pass it on to future generations. George Washington's words may seem hard and cold today, but history has proven him right again and again. "To be prepared for war," he said, "is one of the most effective means of preserving peace." Well, to those who think strength provokes conflict, Will Rogers had his own answer. He said of the world heavyweight champion of his day: "I've never seen anyone insult Jack Dempsey."[10]

The approach has been credited for forcing the Soviet Union to lose the arms race and end the Cold War.[11] "Peace Through Strength" is the official motto of the Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76).[12]

"Peace Through Strength" appeared in the Republican Party platforms of 1980,[13] 1984,[14] 1988,[15] 1992,[16] 1996,[17] 2000,[18] 2008,[19] 2012,[20][21][22][23] 2016.[24][25]

On assuming office in January 2017, President Trump cited the idea of "Peace Through Strength" as central to his overall "America First" foreign policy.[26]

Nikki Haley... I hope she is extremely well compensated for her service.

I was involved in a large real estate deal once. A Developer and Realtor bought up a tract of land to develop and it had about 20 occupied homes on it, including mine. On closing day I heard someone ask the developer if they ever had trouble getting tenants out by the deadline so they start demo.
He replied "Never an issue... all you have to do is simply knock on the front door... with a D-9 bulldozer."

In contrast to Obummer's dick smoking diplomacy policy, Nikki Haley just knocked on the UN's front door... with a D-9...

Collecting dust.

When someone refuses to be drawn into a meaningless symbolic gesture, that says that it's a meaningless symbolic gesture. We don't need other countries' approval to make our own decisions. Notice that Trump and Haley put out the word as to what would happen to those who voted for the resolution, but said nothing about those who voted against or who abstained. For them or us to do otherwise would've been to treat this meaningless symbolic gesture as somehow having actually had some kind of substance or importance.

Don't feed the overinflated egos of this resolutions sponsors in the UN by paying attention to whether a country voted against the resolution or simply abstained.

How soon the Mentally Disturbed Progessives forget!

President stompy-foot during his reign made statements along the way something to the effect of -

'They bring knives to the fight, we bring guns.'

'I will put my boots on the throats of those responsible.'

'We are going to punish our enemies (referring on Spanish tv to US citizens that do not agree with his policies) and reward our friends.'

And just before the jackass left the office, he commented that the new POTUS was
'a threat to Democracy.'

So many empty barrels!

Embarrassed to learn and report that Australia abstained from voting.

Aust avoids symbolic vote on Jerusalem

Australian UN Ambassador Gillian Bird said Australia wanted to see the US play a leadership role in brokering peace and abstained from the vote, saying: "We do not wish to see any party isolated from the process."

Apparently, the resolution did not “conflict” with Australia’s position; the AUssie government is still “assessing the impact” of the proposal.

Seems Australia's embassy will continue to remain at Tel Aviv.

Anyone who voted against this or abstained is behind the times. They are either anti-semetic or have some misguided notion that the move will harm the "peace process". The fact is that the peace process is entirely dependent on the Palestinians are this point. They have to decide as a people that they want peace and a decent shot at a normal future for their children. They have to give up the fantasy that Israel will disappear or that their "right of return" will allow them to demographically destroy Israel. The countries that didn't vote with us also need to get current on the state of world affairs - the Arab nations no longer give a rat's ass about the peace process, except to pay lip service to it. They are too busy cooperating with Israel against Iran's threat to the region. The Arab street is no longer what it once was. How did those "days of rage" go? I'm sure if it had been a big deal, the anti-Israel leftist media would have featured all the dead bodies. But it seems like the mass protests were nothing but duds...just the usual suspects shouting into the wind.

If I have this straight, the UN decides which of our laws they will follow?

Shut that collection of US hating assholes down!

And the sooner the better.

I believe every country involved in the UN has an embassy, or equivalent, already in this country. If they do not, tough shit!
