My eldest, a disabled former Navy corpsman who served with the Marines and suffered service related physical and mental injuries, was found dead this morning. He would have turned 45 later this month.

No foul play. Found collapsed in his residence hallway. Coroner's Office Medical Examiner has differed cause of death pending lab results.

He was to finally escape California later this month. Moving contract, rental agreements at his destination, etc. all set up.

You never expect to outlive your children. This is hard....

Updated:

From a January 2020 visit he made here with his service dog Stark

And when he was flown to NYC to be honored in 2017:

I'm very sorry for how loss. Losing a child no matter how old they are is the hardest thing.
I've been there. My son was 25 when he passed twelve years ago.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
