Parabellum,

I posted a thank you for the reminder regarding ammo pricing and upcoming election time. However, I think that the post was in one of the threads in the Ammunition section that does not receive a lot of responses.

Just wanted to also post here for more viewership. Making purchases for multiple calibers this week.

Thanks again.

Always good advice, another interesting thing to think of. It's really fun when you look back at what you paid for stuff 30+ years ago and look at what it costs now. With inflation a lot of times it's better than if the money had been in the bank.

In a semi-related note, if you are at all tech savvy, it may also be worth investing a decent 3D printer and learning how to use it. As I type this, I am printing 25rd 10/22 magazines. The springs are about three bucks apiece. Six bucks worth of material per. I also have files for CZ Scorpion magazines to feed my converted Stribog, and even Pmags. A lot of magazines can be made for super cheap, it's just a matter of springs.

I have been bad about continuing to stock ammo this last year, though. It's about time to start re-upping.

As has been mentioned by at least one other in the thread so far, if you've been thinking about doing a suppressor or a short barrel anything, now is also the time to file. Filing doesn't mean you have to make it, you can sit on an approved Form 1 forever and not build it. If you change your mind later, you can simply tell the ATF it never got built and they'll take it off the NFTR. However, if the updated rules and procedures we're waiting on don't cover everyone the way we're hoping, there may yet be a run on that stuff and processing times could get quite long. As it is, I still suggest if you've never bought a suppressor, go do so. Now is the time. Any can, I don't care, but go get what you can afford.

Fine, then do it. You need AR magazines, pistol magazines, ammunition? Go. Go now.

You still here?

Go. Right now.

It's crazy what we stockpile. I've got somewhere north of 400 rounds of 303 for the ONE Enfield I now own.

That sounds like enough for one serious running engagement if that's what you grab when it starts.

It's one reason I don't consider my Garand as my first option.

I am clearly not in the same league in terms of record keeping. I clearly have no trouble in the qty department, but the odds I know it to the nearest round! and single digit mag count! is something beyond my skill. Bravo.

Having just moved, I hope I am well equipped. 18 50 Cal cans weighing in at about 1000 lbs. of loaded ammo. 36000 bullets in 223/5.56, 308 Win/ 7.62, 270 (6.8 SPC) 243 Win, 9mm, 40 SW, 45ACP and of course 17HMR and 22 LR. A bunch of fired brass, primers and powder.

If I don't have enough, I do not want to lug it into the house!

The same should be said for spare parts. For example, if you have a P-229 or P2000 having spare parts is especially important now they are out of production. But even a AR-15 is useless, despite having copious amounts of ammo and magazines, if it has a broken firing pin.

Hopefully I'm good for many range(and rainy) days to come.

Seriously, I checked my knives placed in strategic spots in case the way to the HD firearms is not open. A Ka-bar or Cold Steel (Recon Tanto or SRK) is in most spaces. I needed just one more; ordered a Gerber LMF II. My Strong Arm is great, but just in case a mutant that is electrically charged attacks, that base is now covered.

Almost revived the old fixed blade knife thread, or plugged into two current threads for this post, but readiness includes secondary levels too to me.

I saw this post and remembered back to the last time Para posted this same advice. I was fortunate enough to listen and stocked up on some ammo, sure enough a few months later ammo went nuts.

I'm reading this time with a smile on my face, eased back in my chair with glass in hand knowing I don't need any ammo for the next 2 years or maybe more, without exageration.

Still, good looking out for the masses Para.
