The portions are HUGE! Next time we'll get one order and split it. They offer two sizes, the large is three large pieces of fish. Really more than I would care to eat at one sitting.

Walleye and most all fresh water fish are best when they come from very cold waters. If the water's too warm they get wormy and mealy texture. I guess that's why they are the fish of choice in the Midwest northern states. Wisconsin, Minnesota et al.

Yellow perch. But then, "What do you call a sub-legal length walleye?" "Perch" Smile

And to the OP: You live in SW FL and the best fish you can find is at Culvers? <shudder> Wink

The best FRIED fish, not the best fish. Big Grin Down here it's blackened grouper when it's in season, medium rare tuna, mahi-mahi, etc.

Being from Minnesota Walleye capitol of the world and have had literally eaten hundreds of pounds of Walleye I challenge you to find a better eating fish than than a jumbo perch caught through the ice from Devil's Lake North Dakota.
I don't nelieve I've ever eaten Walleys, but I'm willing to try it. I do agree about the Perch, though. Current favorites are Haddock and Flounder.

We had a Long John Silvers, but it closed many years ago. The building was repurposed and unfortunately, that business closed as well:

I am fortunate enough to live very close to the Walleye Capital of the world, Lake Erie.
Between my boat and a buddy of mine we caught over 450 walleye last year and still have plenty in the freezer.
Season will be starting again for me at the end of March.
I love eating walleye and it's the finest fish to eat but I don't buy it in a diner.
Catch it, cook it, eat it!

Got the 2 piece dinner last night, fish was good, fries are always good, slaw was fresh, it's a lot of food as the pieces are pretty large, it was a bit over cooked.

Would I order it again? Probably not, and mostly because of the pricing by the franchisee.
Culvers suggested price on the Web page for the 2 piece $12.19 and 3 piece $14.39 for the Dinner.

The owners of this franchise decided to mark up the prices, the 2 piece is now $14.50 with tax $16.04, that makes the 3 piece over $20 an absurd price for fast food dinner.

You can order it online, selected the same location, if ordered and paid online it would have been $12.19 plus tax.

So check the local franchise price, if its jacked up, check online, might get it for less.

Well what is Culver's, had to Google it. Two within 30 miles of us so off we go yesterday for a late lunch.

Wife had a burger and really liked it.

I had the Walleye, it was... greasy and bland, no seasoning was detected but with a good bit of salt and pepper added it was somewhat edible. It left a grease puddle in my plate! I guess we went when the third string cook was on duty.

Had some great walleye once, caught by a nephew below the dam at a local lake and fried the same afternoon by my MIL. Really good.
I still prefer a well seasoned deep fried catfish.

I wasn't full but the grease did me in so I took the last of the 3 piece meal home and threw it out to the animals.

The slaw was top notch! Loved it. And the staff was great.

There is a Culver near me. I wonder if it has walleye? I have had fish there, but it seemed more like cod or haddock - the usual fish and chips fish.

Most fried fish around here is usually catfish done in cornmeal, which I like, too.

The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Which one so I know not to go to that one.

I got one 2 miles from the house here and another 7 miles from the house. Or 2 miles from the office at work. I got choices.

I asked about the portion size.
4 ounces not including the batter.

I don't care If a virgin caught it this morning on a free range earth worm and flown here on John Travolta's jet,
I ain't paying $28.00 per pound for

Did get a butter burger though

The walleye is a seasonal item at Culver's. Your local franchise probably has it now.
