Yeah, I say we vote on it and anyone voting "Yes" has their entire family drafted, indoc'ed, and on the front lines.

Young, old, retired, working, thin, morbidly obese - no exceptions or 'opting out'. Y'all lead the fucking charge. Wink

Saudi Arabia will probably restore almost half the oil production lost after this weekend’s devastating drone strike as early as tomorrow, though a full resumption from the world’s biggest crude exporter may take weeks.

That’s according to industry consultant Energy Aspects in a note sent to clients on Sunday. Saudi Arabia will meet obligations to suppliers by running down reserves as state oil company Saudi Aramco works toward bringing back all the 5.7 million barrels a day lost after the giant Abqaiq processing plan was set ablaze.

So the Saudis and Houthis are killing each other. Who cares, if no humans are involved?

The Saudis would not last a week in a real all-out war with the Iranian army. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has been battle hardened by constant battle for the last 30 years. The Saudis have nothing and no one to compare.

We better hope it doesn't go that way. We would have to rescue them. But, it would be funny if we let the Israelis do it.

Yep, just an attempt at a bit of tongue in cheek sarcasm. I thought the BFE naming convention would have been enough of a give away. Guess not.

I'd guess not everyone knows what "BFE" stands for, even though the expression has been around since at least 1920. A Google search quickly describes it.

Trump is expressing support for the Saudis (no big surprise) and "offering our support". Secretary of State Pompeo also spelled out that Iran is directly behind the attacks as well. We have also apparently released access to our strategic reserves to help stabilize things. I see oil production in the US ramping up even more in coming weeks.

Like I suggested elsewhere: I don't think this is going to result in the kind of outcome for which the mullahs had hoped. Yes: The U.S. will increase oil production, which is more money in our pockets. Further: I'm not certain there's a limit on how far the U.S., and others, would go to preserve the House of Saud.

Personally, I think whomever's running the show in Iran is every bit as delusional as our own homegrown leftists.

I wouldn't get too carried away about the IRGC. While they're very, very good at unconventional and asymmetric warfare, they're not a standing general purpose force and they've never gone up against a near peer opponent on a full offensive. Don't get me wrong, the Saudi's are horrible fighters, trying to imagine them conducting offensive operations would induce prolonged laughing spasms. They've got lots and lots to tech, which can create big craters and fires but, it's the Saudi's Big Grin

Whatever fight comes about, it'll very likely resemble the Iran/Iraq war: ideological leaders micro-managing their forces resulting in static formations and mass casualties. It was all inshallah!

I say "go for it Saudi Arabia" - go kick some Iranian asses, if you can.

would only happen if they could co-opt Israel into quarterbacking the actual air strikes into Iran.

and the answer to all of this, of course, is "Inshallah" - the same think both sides say when they shoot without aiming.

Apparently, the Houthis actually aim.

The largest oil producing country has the most to gain from a spike in oil prices. Largest oil producing country is the United States. The country with the most to gain certainly was the one to launch the drone strike. Trump is the president of the United States. Russia got Trump elected. That makes it clear that Russia launched the drone attack and we should retaliate against China immediately.

Pres. Obama made a deal with the devil with his Neville Chamberlain moment of agreeing to an Iranian JCPOA (the nuclear accord) bargain who no one thought Iran ever had any intention of upholding. Pres. Trump has said repeatedly he does not want the U.S. constantly involved in these regional issues, and also rightfully withdrew the U.S. from the joint nuclear agreement.

Iran is no more then a school yard bully. No one will stand up to them, so they will continue this behavior. My belief is they are acting out like this to up their position in any future talks about eliminating the hardcore sanctions the U.S. currently has in place.

I quite honestly have no idea what the answer to this situation is. During my middle east deployments we constantly talked about how nations and borders only go so far in middle east politics - as so much of their problems date back centuries due to the tribal nature of all of their clans and conflicts.

I heard, “What should WE do?”

What’s this “WE” shit. We’ve provided the House of Saud with most of our state of the art military hardware, including both F-15E Strike Eagles and F-15Cs for CAP. Let the Saudis punch back.
