Other things to consider as a negative about ear buds. First, they fall out by yawning, or tilting your head. Second, if you wear ear buds too long, your ears may get funky. I go two hours max. A whole lot of sweat and wax, without being vented is not good.

You can’t just generalize like that. They do with you because they don’t fit. Simple as that. I never have the problems.

And the two types I mentioned, as seen in earlier posts, have a hook over the ear, so they won't fall out and they actually don't even go in the ears.

Shokz also has a model that is open ear and just hooks around each ear w/o the connector that wraps around the back of the head. Don't know how well they work for running; probably fine for biking (well, unless jarring mtn biking).

FYI: costco carries a couple of models; good return policy in case you don't like it.

I've been using the bone conducting for years. It isn't hifi but it's good enough for me as used for music, videos and phone calls.

It allows me to hear car traffic while riding. They’re great for running too.

A couple of things about AirPods Pro 3.

The noise suppression is truly astounding. You can set it so that if you say a word or two out loud the noise suppression stops (so you can have conversations without fiddling with the controls. As soon as you're quiet for a second or two, the noise suppression switches back on. You do have to be careful if you're in a dangerous environment and check before crossing a street -- the noise suppression is that good. I live in a suburban area so for me it's worth having the noise suppression when I'm listening to podcasts while out walking. The noise suppression also lessens greatly when you turn your head, when looking over your shoulder.

Regarding the AirPods not fitting securely in one's ears, I have that problem but Amazon sells soft silicon hooks for small money that slide over the AirPods to secure them in the ears.

When I used to road bike and mountain bike, I never wore earbuds for music; for me, it was very important to hear every little noise for safety and also my enjoyment. And on my daily power walks, I never wear them for the same reasons- I want to hear the footsteps behind me, the electric cars when I walk on street for a small portion of my route.

I've got a pair of open ear 'buds' and they work great. They actually clip onto that divot in your ear. You can hear your surroundings and sound is surprisingly good for not being in your ear. They're also much more comfortable IMHO.

Like others have said, ear buds fall out (I had a series of issues at the gym falling out on the bench). Love the concept - and found silicone 'over the ear' sleeves that slip on to the stem on Apple EarPods. Adjustable fit, no drop in sound quality and no falling out. Bought them on Amazon for ~$10.

I always go cheap on ear buds. They're just too easy to lose. I always look for ear buds under "Today's Deals" on Amazon and pick the ones that are $30 or less. Today I picked these:

Soundcore C30i by Anker, Open-Ear Earbuds, Clip-On Headphones $27.99

These are the best bang for the buck ear buds $30 on amazon

They are over the ear so they will not fall out. Impressive sound for the money. There is no reason to spend more.

My wife cannot stand anything inside her ear canal. She tried Bose ear buds which stay outside the canal
but offer great sound. I do recall the store as we were on vacation. Not cheap but they work great.

The soundcore c50i are pretty good. I hope they are durable (the buds and the charger) are durable to last at least 3-5 years. If so, good buy for me. Only peeve is the ridiculous short usb cable - need at least 12-36" as 3-6" is useless. Also, as most everything new has moved to usb c, usb c to usb c would have been nice rather than than the a to c it ships with. Anker being a little cheap on the cable, perhaps to encourage a purchase of one of their cables.

Sure, a longer cable would be great but I just use the same cable as I charge my phone with. That's just the nature of all devices that charge with USB-C cables. You're only going to get the minimum to satisfy requirements. They are always available at Amazon's Deal page in at least a 2 pack for less than $10.

I am also a huge fan of SHOKZ OpenComm2 for multitasking while on the phone. -they are essentially the same as the OpenRun, but with a mic stem for clearer voice capture on your end.

I also have SHOKZ OpenFit2+ which is similar to the Soundcore Aerofit, but usually outperform them in online reviews.

The SHOKZ are priced are higher.

So... if you have big floppy ears, don't get this style of earbuds. Nope. Ain't gonna fit.

If I were stopped by a cop while driving with earbud in place I would get a ticket, rightly so.

As mentioned above, do NOT occlude your ear canals or have distracting music playing if you are riding a bike, and I would say that goes for jogging too, although it would depend on where you're jogging.

For me AirPods Pro 3 are fantastic. Choose between using it as a hearing aid, or using it as ear protection (loud praise band in the church service). Automatically switches source from iPhone to Mac to iPad.
