Yup, and my understanding is flow rate can be adjusted by grind. Finer grind slower flow, coarser grind faster flow.

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

After going through three Keurigs in five years, wife decided we deserved a good coffee maker so as to please our morning indulgence. We received the Moccamaster yesterday and had a great cup of coffee today! The package deal included Illy Classico coffee (espresso grind). The difference is night and day. Very smooth, delicious. Kinda dangerous as I usually limit myself to just 2 cups in the morning but I could drink a gallon of this stuff. Smile
She invested in the Moccamaster, so I’ll in turn invest in a decent burr grinder. Very glad we made the purchase!
Yet another purchase made upon the recommendations from Sig Forum. Big Grin

I picked up one on a Black Friday deal in the Fall on SF recommendations. I've gone from not drinking coffee at all a couple of years ago to grinding my coffee beans each morning and sampling coffee beans from around the world. All because of the Moccamaster and the recommendations of those in the know here!

I've got one on my wishlist. Both of my Keurigs revived & are working.

We cheated. Smile

Our closest coffee shop had a coffee they called “Kauii” that we like much better than the coffee anywhere else. It came from a local roaster who used a different name for it. Another restaurant in another nearby town had what they called their house blend from the same roaster that was very good. Not quite as good as the “Kauii”, but quite good.

About the time of an earlier Moccamaster thread, our closest shop switched bean vendors. In talking with the owner, it was because the new vendor’s coffee “was better”. Okay, maybe it was, but certainly not to my palette. Went to the roaster, figured out what their name for it was (“Garden Island”), and bought that. Between the Moccamaster, the grinder (each morning, only enough to new), and whatever the roaster called “Garden Island”, we were in heaven. Then the volcano(es) erupted in Hawaii and the price of Hawaiian coffee got so silly that they stopped making “Garden Island”. Frown

Asked about it and they explained the volcano/pricing issue and shared that they had a new blend, “Trailhead” that they put together from Columbian beans to get pretty close to the flavor. It is quite good and we haven’t looked back.

The funny thing is the roaster has a cafe and with every pound of coffee you buy, you get either a free small cup of coffee or a card to get your free cup later. They typically have a dark, medium, and a light roast as well as a decaf, and rotate through their different blends. I dunno why, but their “Trailhead”, while my favorite of the coffees they serve always seems to taste burnt and never anywhere close to when we brew in the Moccamaster. If I had discovered it there, we’d be brewing something else.

I got in on the Black Friday deal and am well satisfied. My wife picks out different brands of Columbian type coffee and I have yet to have one I didn't like. We did quit Choc Full of Nuts, seemed to be extra bitter in the Moccamaster.

CFON is my go to when I don't grind! You may need to adjust your ratio to rid the bitter taste - the MM water temperature is hotter and more brew contact that extracts better. I dialed back my ratio and figured it out.

*** OLD THREAD ***

Updating my info. Just short of 2 years, my moccamaster seems to have died. Didn't let out smoke but just doesn't work.

The power light comes on but the light to indicate the heating element is on doesn't light up. Water is not heating. It worked the other day, today it doesn't. I've been using it almost daily but seems like it should still last longer than 2 years.

What type of lifespan are you guys seeing? I'm disappointed as the machine wasn't cheap.

ETA: I descaled regularly and I use filtered water. Scaling shouldn't be a problem here.

ETA2: Never mind. False alarm. I forgot there was an interlock switch. I had taped it closed a because I don't use the pot. The tape came loose - I forgot about the interlock. I was researching the webz and was reminded of the interlock. All working now.

I've had mine for five years now and no problems and I use it every day, twice a day. I don't remember for sure, but I think the Mocamaster has a three year warranty.

I'm glad you figured it out!

Yes. Drip directly into a mug. Usually black but sometimes I’ll heat some milk in the uwave first.

This is one of the favorite things I own, and I have some nice stuff. I really wake up every morning with a smile, just waiting for that coffee. I go to bed each night, having just prepped everything and it seems all is right with the world. When I visit my best buddy in Pittsburgh, he has one too and I know each morning is going to be great. Ditto for my best friend in Germany. This machine is worth every penny and I'll never be without one. If mine craps out, I will be in a panic until its replacement arrives.

Almost 2 years with ours and no issues. They do have a 5 year warranty if bought new so hopefully they take care of you.
