GI Doc said the same.
I drink a lot of Soda and a lot of fried food. Going to try to cut the soda 100% switch to tea and water.
Going to cut fried and dairy out for awhile to get back to normal then limit the fried stuff.

I've always liked a good cold coke at work every now and again, not recently since cutting back on a lot of sweets. I will however indulge on a Coke Zero once in a blue moon just because it's a choice between purified water or the Zero. I like the flavor too. But as always they're suppose to be other things in smaller quantities in it that may be harmful to certain few, but I like it. Lord know I drink enough purified water and other healthy drinks to be able to indulge once in awhile.

I hope that all will get straightened out while you're there and on to a healthier future for both you and son. God bless..

Glad to hear you are doing better!

I got off the soda/diet train a number of years ago and one of the side benefits was that my sweet tooth lessened dramatically. The soda apparently was driving my cravings through the roof.

Glad you're out.

I used to drink diet Mt Dew for the caffeine, but quit a year ago. The caffeine withdrawal wasn't fun. I don't know why, but I don't like deep fried foods anymore. It all just tastes the same.

Hang in there Black. Did they give you a HIDA scan? I went through testing for 3 years trying to figure out what the cause of my GI problems was. HIDA confirmed a bad gallbladder. Sure wish they had given me that test first Wink

Thankfully no real health issues aside from this that has seemed to pop up in the last month.

Had an emergency appendectomy in June.

I have been slipping in my fitness over the past few years so need to get back at that and fix this diet.

No Hida as everything else seemed to rule out the gallbladder.

I know how that goes. Not years, for me, but months, recently.

Since I decided, fourteen years ago this month, that I wanted to have something left when I retired, I've been pretty good wrt diet and exercise. Even maintained into retirement, in July of 2017. But then, last May, I slipped. Six months of bad diet and w/o working out.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Eat healthy for awhile and see if things clear up. I do the same as you and enjoy eating poorly, but I start to suffer after time and add back veggies and fruits to balance out.

Don't underestimate stress as well.

I went through a similar thing in my 20's. They did blood work, ultrasounds, colonoscopy, etc. and all came back perfect. I finally gave up and just figured I might just drop dead some day. I would get stabbing pains that would stop me dead in my tracks.

Looking back on it now and dealing with the symptoms that would occasionally come and go. I think I was internalizing a lot of stress at the time.

As for diet, staying away from fatty foods seemed to help me as well. I can recall living on dry subway turkey sandwiches for a while.

I schedule it on non-post-weight-training days. It's quite simple, really: You simply take no nutrition between supper and lunch the next day. Assuming you sup at 6 p.m. and lunch at noon: There's your eighteen hours.

You can take probiotics until the cows come home and it'll do little good if your diet is crap.

Probiotics are good for restoring your gut after harm from an imbalance, not for compensating for continuing behavior that promotes the imbalance.

I’m doing 16 hour daily. I’ve lost 22 lbs. That’s not the reason but it’s a great way to lose. You have to increase your fat intake, drastically reduce carb intake. Otherwise the hunger will get you. You also need to supplement electrolytes if you done eat enough in veggies.

My brothers cancer doc put him on it. Fasting and low carb really reduce your inflammatory markers that can cause a host of problems.

I eat between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. That’s it.

If I'm working out regularly that beats me down too badly to get effective workouts. Any more than three times a week, max, for me, becomes self-defeating. YMMV.

The boy’s sweat test came back normal which means no Cystic Fibrosis!!!
That is a huge relief but we still don’t know what we are dealing with.
Endoscopy and Colonoscopy are set for the 22nd.


Of course good news must always be accompanied by the bad.
Got a nice letter from insurance today stating that my recent bout there at the hospital was not medically necessary and has been denied

Glad to hear it. As a parent myself, I would think CF is an especially troubling diagnosis. Hopefully the next battery of tests will reveal what the culprit is.

There is an appeals process. Just need to figure out how to wade those waters.

The denial specifically claims there was no major fluid loss that needs to be associated with the illness and that is why it was not covered.
I was on constant IV fluids between 2 and 4 bags of IV fluids per day along with a constant dosage of magnesium in the IV drip, and 8 potassium pills per day due to my levels of dehydration (also known as fluid loss).

Also my heart rate did not go below 130 for the first 2 days.
