I just sold my house and bought a house across town and I have been very happy with my realtor. I feel he has gone above and beyond especially after hearing horror stories from friends about their home sales. I know he is a bourbon drinker and thought I might buy him a bottle just for an extra thanks. I was wondering if some of you bourbon drinkers might be able to make some suggestions. I appreciate any ideas you might offer.

One vote here for Basil Hayden’s. In my opinion, it’s very smooth, and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Blade and Bow Kentucky Bourbon is a nice one that Ive found recently. Elmer T Lee (Buffalo Trace Distillery) is another solid choice. I didn’t find Basil Hayden too consistent from bottle to bottle... after much testing, of course. I’m a fan of Angels Envy or 4 Roses. I hear good things about Willett’s Pot Still. Got a bottle of George Gibson to start on, but you won’t find that much outside of SE Alabama. -- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. What’s your budget? Given VA is a control state your options may be limited. For ~$30 Eagle Rare, McKenna 10yr, Elijah Craig small batch are good bottles. For under $70 consider Stagg Jr, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Blanton’s, Booker’s. If VA does barrel picks or you can get access elsewhere look for Four Roses, Maker’s 46, Russell’s Reserve, Knob Creek, Belle Meade. They should all be under $70. Wild Turkey Decades or Master’s Keep are both under $150 and come will pretty presentation cases. They’re very good but a touch overpriced though that makes them the perfect gift bottle because people don’t like to spend the money on themselves.

I concur Blantons, if you can’t find that Four Roses Single Barrel is good. I also really enjoy Russel’s Reserve 10 year which is about the same price as Four Roses single Barrel... about $45 here. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Woodford Reserve. Great middle price point bourbon. If you know that he prefers more “bite” Knob Creek single barrel. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

Woodford is what everyone takes home when they visit us. Smooth bourbon for those that don't like the bite.

Blantons, Bibb and Tucker, and Angel's Envy are around $50. Eagle rate and 4 Rose's small batch for about $30.

As an amateur bourbon drinker, I find Woodford to be a very good drink. ========================================== Just my 2¢ ____________________________ Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right ♫♫♫

The distribution (or the lack of) issue drives me crazy...it seems next to impossible to find Elmer T Lee or Eagle Rare in these parts.

In my taste testing, I liked Woodford Reserve and Basil Hayden’s. "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

I find the Eagle Rare and Basil Hayden to be a bit thin. These rest well on the palatte, Weller (green label), Weller 107 (red label) highly recommended and bonus points for scarcity, Willett Pot Still Reserve. And the unbeatable for the price, IMO, Col EH Taylor BiB Small Batch. The current mr k fave. Bell Meade is packaged in fancy bottles and looks tastey but I have not tried it. Check the online reviews. He may be impressed by the spendy factor. For something different, Sazerac Rye, or James Pepper 1776 Rye.
