We're getting our taxes done this afternoon. Hopefully the news won't be too bad. (I ended-up retiring three months later than projected. Neglected to adjust withholding appropriately.)

I don't know what my wife has planned for the rest of the day, but I'll have snow to clear, probably give the floors a once-over with the vacuum and find something photography-related to study.

I see that TCM is airing Powell/Pressburger's Black Narcissus at 8 PM Eastern, and that's certainly worth your time if you've never seen it. This is one of the most beautiful films ever, courtesy of Jack Cardiff, W. Percy Day and Technicolor. Simply gorgeous.

Of the few, very few times American pro football was ever on the TV in the ensigmatic household, I looked up at one point to see my wife actually watching it. Intrigued, I watched her watching football. Or, more accurately, watching what was on TV. After a couple minutes of this she says "Do they actually ever play the game?"

Gonna clean guns. I've got some that I want to transition from oil type lube to slide glide. I have a system of taking each gun, one at a time, and clearing gun and unloading magazine in the bedroom, leaving the ammo on the bed, and then taking the gun and empty magazine to the kitchen table to clean and lube. I like to keep the ammo away from the cleaning space. Then when I'm finished, I take the gun back to the bedroom to load magazine and chamber a round. So, it takes a while for my cleaning process when I have several guns to clean.

Let's see- ten zillion screaming fans and sanctimony down on the field vs the Zen-like imagery of Black Narcissus...

Yeah, that's a tough choice.

Yeah, sticking with my bow and hunting show reruns like I posted on the top of Pg 7.

I did pregame though building a dozen arrows, 6 each for my wife and daughter. I then moved on to grillIng meatballs and Italian sausage for spaghetti. Followed that up by adjusting the tune on my 2014 Ram since I added larger tires a couple of months ago and never got around to changing it.

Sorry but no interest in “the game”, and that’s coming from someone who’s had Sunday Ticket since the early 2k’s and used to watch the NFL religiously. Fuck these entitled clowns.

My cable/dish provider must be laughing all the way to the bank. I haven't turned on that tripe in several weeks! With Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu, the pickin's are still slim, but better than the stuff that passes for entertainment on the networks.

After cleaning guns, I'm gonna try out this new pre-shave creme from Proraso (made in Italy of course) that I just got. I haven't shaved this weekend so I'm gonna pull out a new Feather double edge safety blade and see how the pre-shave creme does. And then have a dram of whisky.

Got the burger patties shaped and layered in wax paper. Now I'm outside with my four year old sitting around the chimney loaded with lump charcoal that's juuuuust starting to take off. He's got his cowboy hat and boots on, poking the coals with a tree branch. I'm glad we're doing this instead of dodging drunks and listening to drunks. We're listening to Gene Autry instead.

I told him today was a special day: we're celebrating freedom.

I have successfully forgotton all day today that it is 'SBS'. Just screwing around fixing things, watching a little amazon prime, having lunch. A typical lazy Sunday. Just came here and was reminded of the assholes I'm not watching right now.

Life without the NFL is good.
