You both are in my prayers. I had that same patella injury when I was younger from a motorcycle crash. I sure was no picnic.

Sorry to hear this bad news! Prayers for all involved, especially those who have to pitch in and compensate for her injuries.

Hope the doc's can restore her knee cap and get her back to full mobility!

Wife broke her foot. I bought crutches, wheel chair, and knee scooter. Knee scooter was used the most. Crutches were total waste of money. Hope she heals up ok.
And grab bars installed throughout the house. That was a good month for Amazon

The Ortho people the doctor referred the wife to could not get her in for a few days. I called around and was able to get her in that day with a different place. Broke, x-rayed, and diagnosed Thursday morning. Ortho called 4pm Friday. She was seen at a different Ortho place Fri night. Original Ortho place called the following Tuesday to schedule her. May help to call around

You got my prayers especially in figuring out what caused the fall.

Both of you please take care.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Got the recomended Dr, a knee specialist. He said she didn't break the kneecap... he said she "busted it up pretty good". Multiple pieces and not a clean break but he said he could fix it. Warned it would likely never be 100%.

Scheduled surgery for the next day.
Surgery went well he said but they had trouble managing her pain after waking up and outpaitent surgery turned into an overnight stay.

Released today and I got her home... in a lot of pain.
On Eliquis and on Oxycodone for pain. They were adding some Morphine to that at the hospital. They said we could add some Ibuprofen with that at home if needed... it is and we are. I have now staggered her Oxycodone dose form 2 every 4 hours to one every 2 hours to help level out the highs and lows. She is finally resting some.

Got her leg wrapped and in a Forrest Gump looking metal brace, locked to prevent any movement, and a cold water pump machine wrapped up in it.

Thanks again for the good thoughts and prayers.

I requested no visitors very plainly via text, emails and social media to everyone because she didn't feel up to it yet. Well two already have been and another coming tomorrow despite me asking they didn't... What the heck? Roll Eyes

They can’t help themselves. Take the casserole, or whatever they brought, thank them and let them know she’s resting comfortably and you were just about to catch some shuteye yourself. Good folks will take the hint.
It’s better than no one bothering, right? It’s good that you have people who care enough to stop by. They’ll understand when you shoo them on their way. I hope the pain lessens for her.

I'm sorry for her pain and everything she has had to deal with surgery and post-surgery. I hope she gets to a point soon where the pain is manageable.

You are both in my family's prayers.

Falls are a genuine threat to us older people. Things break so much easier and are much harder to heal up.

My prayers are with her.
