Me too. I met a few girls with AIM from the Miami chat room.....the good old days.....had some of them send me some crazy pictures and stuff too......

C'Ya!

Linky

What ever happened to the old days when you could reach other networks, like arpanet, milnet, and other *nets, with a 300 Baud Coupler?

Then, for a moment, back in the day, IRC was king.

And then, Telnet, Finger, Gopher, Tracert, Ping, Netstat, and many other tools in the TCP/IP protocol stack came along to help us RAT out other networks.

And then some stuff happened...

And then IPX/SPX and TCP/IP was all the rage.

And then some more stuff happened...

And then some dorks invented Farmtown, ruined the internet, and everything went to hell.

On 9/11, I had been at college for literally 2 weeks. Being in Washington DC and being able to see the Pentagon burn from my dorm, I was right in the thick of things.

Phones were down 100%.

AIM was literally the only way I had to communicate with the outside world. Thankfully a girl in my home town was online and she was able to get a message to my parents that I was okay.

Same. I think I actually subscribed to get the full version because I liked it so much.

I never used AOL, so I didn't have their messenger. Instead I used Excite PAL, and later ICQ.
