I just got off the phone with Governor Pritzker. I heard an evil laugh before he hung up on me. But it’s still good news.

Aww... All that hubbub and all we got in the end was some free tax stamps. (Though I actually kept my sole braced pistol as a pistol, because that means I could continue to take it along nationwide under LEOSA if so desired, without worrying about ATF SBR transport notifications and all the varying rifle laws from state to state.)

Good. Fuck the government. Now just make cans where I can just order them to my damn house. It’s an inanimate object idiots! And it’s for my own hearing protection! What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Not exactly. It's in the House bill, but needs to survive the floor votes, and reconciliation with the Senate bill. Good start, but kind of a long road. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation." Oooh, I get to correct you: When an SBR’ed AR lower is in a pistol configuration, it’s legally a pistol, not an SBR. All that hand-wringing debate we had on the pages of this forum and elsewhere about “muh permissions to cross state lines” resulted in that being clarified. Lots of guys just slap a brace on an SBR and go about their business because a pistol is crossing state lines, not an SBR. The configuration it’s in is what defines it, not whether you’ve registered it as an SBR. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

P220Smudge I don't know or follow the original discussion, but that's the Federal view of the situation. It may not be the State view of the situation. Which if we are talking "crossing State lines" is one of the items that matters. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

^^^ But a state doesn’t get to define what a pistol, or SBR, is, or am I wrong? Q

Well where I like to shoot, there is nobody else around. Long past tired of the gun range where the dumbass public can shoot. It’s almost as bad as going to the Costcos on the weekend. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Nobody else in the immediate vicinity or no one else for miles? I could be a mile away from someone shooting. The sound won't hurt my ears, but I still appreciate it being suppressed vs unsuppressed. People w/ dogs appreciate it too. In what case is quieter not preferable? If the people for common sense gun control weren't so damn ignorant about how guns actually work, they'd be lobbying for greater suppressor usage w/ fewer restrictions.

Serious honest question: so I don't have to worry about shouldering the brace, right? "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Your wrong with respect to State law. Every State will have a set of definitions for the things used in their statues. It is possible that those might mirror Federal law, but they never have in any State I have lived in. You easily do a statue search for your State and see what are the definitions. And the differences can be meaningful, for example, in my current State an AR lower is not a firearm under State law, but, of course, it is under Federal law. These differences in defintion are why we have a patch work of what's legal in any given State. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

I’m asking a very specific question here. Which state(s) define an AR pistol as SBR? I’m willing to bet that the answer is none. So, there would be no issues with bringing my AR pistol to, say, state C, as long as it allows it, and as long as I don’t violate any of their other restrictions, whatever they might be. Q

That wasn't the question you posted that I responded to. At least as I read it. And of course I can't answer that exact question. But the point I made is that your "AR braced Pistol" may not actually be a pistol under some state laws. It may not be an SBR but it might not be a pistol which can matter a lot in some States about carrying it loaded in a vehicle or concealed on your person, etc. This message has been edited. In addition to the state law vs federal law stuff, I was specifically referencing LEOSA anyways, which may or may not override whatever state law silliness per federal and state exemptions for LEO. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.
