Re-posting from an August entry in the watch thread:

It doesn't look "well-worn" like stick's uncle's watch, but does being worn by two different owners help it score any well-worn points? Big Grin

God bless America.

Hey that Orange Samurai looks familiar! Big Grin

I’m glad you’re enjoying it VThoky. It is an excellent watch.

I love seeing some Sinn watches in this thread.

Sinn is one of my favorite watch brands. I only have two of them but they are both excellent watches with fascinating technological advancements. I also love that they are made in Germany.

My 206 Arktis II is functionally reliable from –45 °C up to +80°C and also has a moisture absorbing capsule like the U2. Much like the newer Omega Seamaster Chronographs the chronograph pushers can be used underwater without causing any damage. It is a heck of a watch.

I kind of baby the Arktis so it’s still in great shape.

My 203 AR Ti Anniversary edition (titanium) is well worn and is about to back to Deutschland for some much needed TLC and maybe a new case.

Seiko quietly discontinued them so I would start looking sooner rather than later. Wink

I doubt it will jump into stupid money territory like the SKX007 did but with Seiko who knows. It defies logic the models that triple and quadruple in value.

Spectacular! I love the crystal.

Thanks. I've been asked if it a Rolex more than once. Uhhhh, I wish.

If it's any consolation, all the ADs in Germany charge the same price as the factory store in Frankfurt. And all offer the VAT refund paperwork if you take it outside of the EU.

I bought an 857UTC from an AD in Cologne about 12 yrs. ago while they were servicing my U2. They didn't take credit cards and I couldn't get that much cash out of an ATM in another country. I was flying home the next morning. They let me take the watch without paying, even gave me a receipt that stated I had paid cash, so I could get the VAT refund at the airport. I called my bank as soon as they opened on Monday and had the funds wired.

I've owned either 4 or 5 Rolex Submariners and loved the first (don't remember why I sold it, probably greed) and the last one was loved very much as well. The ones in between, I hated-timekeeping was abominable and the various jewelers could not regulate them to my satisfaction.

I only sold the last one 'cause I had just gotten my throat cancer into remission and figgered I was gonna die before too long. Didn't want the wife to have to deal with "stuff."

I haven't been actually diving since the late 80s, but I like the style and toughness of a Diver. I have a Luminox Pacific Diver that fills the bill for me-quartz, Diver, big (44mm) and I wore it all the time till my daughter gave me an Apple Smart Watch.

I thanked her profusely, thinking I'd wear it till she went home, but liked it so much I bought another and my wife now has two herself.

I bought my wife a Rolex Sub in the smaller ladies size several years ago. It works well, looks great, but she is hooked on the smart watches, too.

Why are none of these "dive watch" photos taken underwater, or even in the rain?

Nice Samurai. I have that one as well. It looks great on a hexad bracelet form strapcode.

Because taking close shots with the macro lens on my Nikonos V requires two hands.

1982 Seiko 6309-7049. Owned it since new in '82. Fully serviced by the Blair Watch Project 2 years ago, and running better than new since.

Got this Omega for my 40th birthday. Just turned 59 a couple months ago. Worn daily (mostly). Have the original bracelet but prefer Nato bands. I love things with a deserved patina. Old cars, sailboats, watches, and of course guns.
