A VERY neat and extremely well built diver for the money ($320 shipped new) with roots originally in North Carolina AND that you cannot buy new unless you are willing to wait a loooooong time is Helm.

I waited about a year for the Vanuatu picture below and then got lucky and won their lottery 5-6 months later to get my 2nd Helm watch, an orange Komodo.

This neat little micro brand has a few different offerings but this Vanuatu is my favorite. It draws its aesthetics from two superb brands, Marathon and Sinn and is incredibly well built.

For the money this is the arguably the best diver you cannot buy new from the manufacturer….unless you are willing to wait. Matt, the founder is a very cool business owner and answers your questions pretty darn quick.

It’s also one of the few micro brands that often sells for more used than brand new because they are so hard to get.

Not just one but two rubber seals protect the regulated NH35 Seiko automatic mechanical movement from water intrusion.

I've been wearing this Deep Blue for almost a year and a half. The tritium is outstanding and it's built like a tank.

Related to this, after 3 or more years sitting, I finally sent my orange monster for repair. All in all with shipping, it cost me about $165 to fix a $225 watch. I figured I’d do it once. Doubt I will again. They replaced the movement. Had to, they didn’t have it long enough to do anything else.

They probably replaced the gaskets and put in a new movement holder along with a new movement and new hands. It isn’t a hard thing to do yourself but by the time you add up the cost of even entry level tools, damage you will likely inflict on one or two movements as you learn to remove them from the case and how to remove hands it’s worth the price Seiko charges unless you own a lot of Seiko watches. If you have more than 5-10 of them it’s definitely best to do the service yourself.

The only problem is that opens the door to modifying your Seiko and that is a HIGHLY addictive and expensive road to go down. The sky is the limit when it comes to modding a Seiko watch. Big Grin

I wear my Planet Ocean more than any other watch I own. I have always wanted a Sinn U1 but not enough to pull trigger apparently.

So much so that I bought a second one in case something happened to the first. Unfortunately, both are broken and I already fix one of them once. They don’t like being dropped on tile.

Second favorite:

I wear this one at least a few times a week. It’s titanium. They say titanium is a different color than stainless steel, but I don’t really see it between this and my Seikos. You can definitely feel the difference in weight though.

My El Cheapo Addiesdive daily beater. $80. Actually has surprisingly good lume and keeps good time. The bracelet sucked and got replaced with a nato strap.

The Omega SeaMaster I bought myself when I retired. Wear it daily, but take it off when running a chainsaw and the like.

Working a healthcare job now and while I could wear it there, just don’t want it exposed to the kind of crud I am, so I wear a typically soulless Apple Watch then.

Side note re “divers watch.” I can barely swim and have no interest in drowning.

Like many, I have owned lots of watches over the years. Most have been dive watches or G-Shocks. I have had several Submariners, Omegas, Tudors, Luminox, Seiko, Citizen, and others.

Currently I have a Omega Seamaster 42mm on their black rubber strap. I also have several Solar/Atomic G Shocks (Frogman, Rangeman, and Mudman). While I like the Seamaster a lot, I really find myself wearing the G Shocks most of the time - just like how easy they are to read.

If I could find one locally and try it on, I would like to pick up a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, the 45mm size is a little larger than I prefer for a diver (I had a 45mm Planet Ocean at one time) so I really want to see how it wears on my 7 1/4" wrist.

I don't scuba anymore, but my Planet Ocean is over 7 years old and has been down below 80 feet with me. I have also kayaked with it in some tough surf, along with swimming and free diving in similar surf.

I have that Omega in stainless steel and black dial. I really like it. I think I may like yours even more. I think yours is the grade 5 titanium and I cannot tell it apart from SS. The grade 2 titanium is darker, like my Planet Ocean above. I like both of your watches, but I think I like all of the watches here.

Wow you guys have some nice watches.

I really like beancooker’s seamaster but checking price I could never afford one. It’s very appealing though.

I’m saving up for a PADI diver from seiko. Maybe someday I can post a modest picture here.

This is my vintage Seiko Sports 100. I am the original owner. I retrieved it from storage, had a battery installed and I am wearing it now. (Unfortunately, all of the sub-functions (complications?) have stopped working.) It still keeps 'cell-phone' level accuracy.

Its on and off at least 10 times a day, and the clasp is still in A-1 condition!
