Manu Raju (CNN):

Just asked Schiff about GOP contention that Volker testimony has undercut his probe. He declined to comment but called Trump’s comments today “repugnant,” saying it’s “dangerous” for our elections and “dangerous our security” to invite foreign interference in elections.

Christopher Steele ? Joseph Mifsud ?

Schiff refused to comment about the whistleblower and whether any one on his staff knows whistleblower identity

The idea of not asking foreign governments to look into past corruption because the corruption was committed by a current candidate is not a shield for criminal activity.

Running for president has never been a shield as the Democrats are asserting. What is the precedent for their novel assertion?

That's what I thought.

Nice try.

If there was ever someone with overblown expert "knowledge," it's Andrew Napolitano.

He's out of his area of expertise and over his depth. Yet some Fox folks put him on to yammer on.

Too bad. They have better choices for real expertise to tun to.

that guy is so blatant in his bias. he's a former superior court judge, not even a federal court judge. he's a former talk show host. and for a short time, he was considered in the running for SCOTUS until the President selected a much better qualified federal court judge, Justice Kavannaugh. napalitano is hillary's male mirror image.

Andy McCarthy, long article

https://thehill.com/opinion/wh...-impeachment-inquiry

There is no impeachment inquiry. There are no subpoenas.

You are not to be faulted if you think a formal inquest is under way and that legal process has been issued. The misimpression is completely understandable if you have been taking in media coverage — in particular, reporting on a haughty Sept. 27 letter from House Democrats, presuming to direct Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, on pain of citation for obstruction, to cooperate in their demands to depose State Department officials and review various records.

What is portrayed as an “impeachment inquiry” is actually just a made-for-cable-TV political soap opera. The House of Representatives is not conducting a formal impeachment inquiry. To the contrary, congressional Democrats are conducting the 2020 political campaign.

The House has not voted as a body to authorize an impeachment inquiry . What we have are partisan theatrics, proceeding under the ipse dixit of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). It raises the profile, but not the legitimacy, of the same “impeachment inquiry” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) previously tried to abracadabra into being without a committee vote.

Moreover, there are no subpoenas. As Secretary Pompeo observed in his fittingly tart response on Tuesday, what the committee chairmen issued was merely a letter. Its huffing and puffing notwithstanding, the letter is nothing more than an informal request for voluntary cooperation. Legally, it has no compulsive power. If anything, it is rife with legal deficiencies.

The Democrats, of course, hope you don’t notice that the House is not conducting a formal impeachment inquiry. They are using the guise of frenetic activity by several standing committees — Intelligence, Judiciary, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Reform, Financial Services, and Ways and Means — whose normal oversight functions are being gussied up to look like serious impeachment business.

But standing committees do have subpoena power, so why not use it? Well, because subpoenas get litigated in court when the people or agencies on the receiving end object. Democrats want to have an impeachment show — um, inquiry — on television; they do not want to defend its bona fides in court.

They certainly do not want to defend their letter. The Democrats’ media scribes note the chairmen’s admonition that any failure by Pompeo to comply “shall constitute evidence of obstruction of the House’s impeachment inquiry.” What a crock.

If only Kevin could get the clarity of Andy.

The public would see more clearly if the Republican leaders would talk more clearly in not legitimizing this juvenile show, masquerading as a serious inquiry.

Kevin McCarthy needs to get out of the shadow of his former mentor, Paul Ryan's, dithering to be more outspokenly effective.

President Trump could use a clarion voice in the House that counters the "higher than thou" Pelosi on a daily basis.

Don't give her a free pass to be an alternate president. She doen't deserve that. Let her daily gripe be with another House leader. Tell us that she's a rotten Speaker who is destroying the House by her extra-constitutional allowances.

Indeed, maybe we should hear more about why Pelosi wants her machine turned loose to now take out Pence, too. So what, Pelosi could become president? Doesn't this mean (put on your concerned look) that she has a conflict of interest and should (put on the concerned scowl but deeper) step aside for the good of the country? Put her on a back foot while using her own rhetorical style.

Pelosi's chief interest is not the country but power.

there is a lot breaking right now

Kevin McCarthy may have a better grasp than Andy McCarthy

https://theconservativetreehou...inquiry/#more-172736

Today both Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy and Representative Michael McCaul draw attention to Speaker Pelosi’s manipulation of House rules specifically intended to achieve articles of impeachment without Republican representation.

In a blatant display of committee manipulation, today the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Chairman Adam Schiff, worked around committee jurisdiction rules and took a deposition from Kurt Volker, the former State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations.

Without a vote to initiate an impeachment inquiry, the articles of impeachment can be drawn up in committee without any participation by the minority; and without any input from the executive branch. This was always the plan visible in Pelosi’s House rules.

Thankfully key Republican leadership have now realized Pelosi’s decree of an “Official Impeachment Inquiry” is a feature, not a political flaw. They are beginning to push-back, at least call-out publicly, their lack of input around the rushed committee investigations.

I'm not so sure. Get out in FRONT of this is what I say.

Days ago I wrote that someone should get injunctive relief to stop the unconstitutional shenanigans underway.

I saw the Kevin McCarthy letter (and that was very good) but it seems like he's always behind the events instead of in front of them.

Go after Pelosi before more requires a response.

Make her respond for a change.

That's where it seems McCarthy is lacking.

To put it another way: Great. Kevin McCarthy shot a bunch of Patriot missiles to defeat the incoming.

But what about a strategy to make them fight on their heels?

I regularly talk to people who have no keen interest in politics.

What they hear is the opening salvo and then tune out.

I find myself as the one who fills in gaps catch as catch can.

Why not have a salvo of our own?

I just sent a donation to President Trump's campaign. At last we have a leader that won't roll over and take a pounding from Democrats. Hooray

Pelosi has responded to Kevin McCarthy:

"There is no requirement under the Constitution, under House Rules, or House precedent that the whole House vote before proceeding with an impeachment inquiry"

Pelosi did not respond to any of McCarthy’s requests that she adhere to precedent on other points, including rights for the congressional minority.

The American people will get tired of this stupid shit PDQ. I don't know what the Dems think they're doing. This will not get President Trump removed from office and this will not help them in the election next year. This is genuinely stupid. This is not what Americans want. Americans want Congress to do their job to improve our quality of life.

Their obsession with Donald Trump will be their downfall. Thirteen months from now, Donald Trump will still be POTUS, and on the first Tuesday in November, he's going to landslide the election and coattail Republicans in retaining the Senate and winning back the House.

And then what are they going to do? Threaten to impeach him once again? The Dems simply lack the ability to function in any meaningful way in a world where they are not in charge. They can't change the truth, no matter how hard they try. The truth is the truth. They can convince the stupid and the gullible among us, but not forever. Eventually, all but the most rabid anong them will say "fuck it."

Time to ask the public those question and ask why Pelosi needs to ignore so many things that guaranty fairness.

Could also get around to asking through the courts in one way or another.

Now that she's responded with her words, make her eat em.'

In their deluded mind, this will cripple the President. This is their Battle of the Bulge moment. I can't wait until President Trump pounds them into the ground just like the allies did to the Nazis.
