President Trump tweet from yesterday:

I wish people would read or listen to my words on the Border Wall. This was in no way a concession. It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it’s off to the races!

and after that,

21 days goes very quickly. Negotiations with Democrats will start immediately. Will not be easy to make a deal, both parties very dug in. The case for National Security has been greatly enhanced by what has been happening at the Border & through dialogue. We will build the Wall!

It was ALL political.

Damn right it was political. All three of those incidents (Waco, Ruby Ridge and Elian Gonzalez) were committed under Clintons and Janet Reno's watch. They were sending a clear message to the people of this country that they had the power and were more than willing to use it. Nothing has changed since those days. Liberals have the power with the media to back them up and they will continue to use it.

I don't even see it as a "liberal" thing anymore. As the FBI/DOJ has been under the control of the Trump admin the last 2 years....it is clearly a deep state "swamp" issue. The Dems just use/abuse the Feds more flagrantly.

Yeah, sounds like wishful thinking to me.

Yeah, anybody that thinks Trump has control of the FBI/DOJ is living in an alternative universe. If he wins in 2020 he may have enough time to make a change. He will have to change 50 years of precedent. I truly hope he succeeds.

Poor choice of words on my part...my point was it is a deep state/swamp problem not a liberal/conservative problem. They obviously aren't merely a political tool of who happens to be in charge, it goes way deeper than that.

Sessions was just there as a figurehead as he saw it. Didn’t do anything but keep his friends in Congress safe, he should have been canned the day he recused himself and not telling Trump. Rosenstine has been running the show with his swamp creature friends. Hopefully Barr will do better.

One bad day. It's simple as that. No one bats a 1000.

No one has a perfect day, and if they did I would expect shenanigans.

Pelosi bragging on her "win" over trump drove me mad.

But them I realized . Trump has been steps in front of these fools for three years..

I'll just wait.

Good luck Trump.

Thank you for your service, and I will continue to believe in and support you.

Trump wins because he isn't screwing anyone over

Today's earworm: "And The Donald was Sun Tzu fighting..."

Democrats have 19 days to decide if they want to be relevant. Either they fund the next section of the wall, or The Donald uses his emergency powers and builds it all.

He is not playing around.

It is a done deal.

Sadly many of our friends do not get this.

At Instapundit, Sarah Hoyt was beside herself on Saturday: "THERE IS NO GOOD FAITH WITH THE LEFT. I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE NEGOTIATE WITH SOCIALISTS OR COMMUNISTS AND GET ANYTHING BUT DESTROYED. AH WELL. I WAS AFRAID OF THIS WHEN THEY TOOK THE HOUSE: Trump Backs A Continuing Resolution, Temporarily Opens Government.

"Now the only likely outcomes are bad."

Earlier, Glenn Reynolds wrote, "SO IS THIS A CAVE? IT KIND OF FEELS LIKE A CAVE TO ME: Trump announces temporary end to partial government shutdown; vows to build wall despite no funding deal."

That is loser talk.

That is the result of watching politicians try to beat the devil on his own terms. Republicans always let the Democrats write the rules and umpire the game.

President Trump is not a politician. He is a wheeler dealer.

The president is having the time of his life. This is what he lives for. He loves negotiating, and he loves making a deal.

Unlike the politicians in Washington, he is not trying to vanquish his enemies. He just wants to get a deal done.

Oh, he plays elbows out, but his goal is peace. He let Kim Jong Un save face. He will do the same with Chairman Xi. Nancy, too.

Nancy spent Friday afternoon strutting her stuff and pushing the spin that he caved. This is what she does when President Trump beats her.

Fakes like Ann Coulter fall for it.

President Trump has the authority to build the wall. All he needs is the money. Congress thinks it has the power of the purses, but money is fungible, isn't it?

Congress passed a law in 1976 that allows the president to declare a national emergency and get this done. The law was passed by a Democrat Congress and signed into law by an Establishment Republican president.

In 2006, Congress passed a law that authorized the wall.

Meanwhile, in Central America, 12,000 illegal aliens are gathering to try to swarm our border again, which creates the emergency needed to get this going.

Democrats think they can sue and stop President Trump. How? It is an emergency and the law says there should be a wall.

Besides, who cares if they sue? They sue all the time. They will lose. In the end, the president will prevail.

Establishment Republicans say this will establish a dangerous precedent. They always say that. Again, who cares? Democrat presidents do whatever they like anyway.

President Trump tried working with these fools but they do not want to cut a deal. They want him to fail, die slowly, and be buried upside down facing away from the sun.

He is not trying to screw over anyone. He is willing to give them something in return for the wall.

No. They would rather starve then let him eat.

The only problem with the "National Emergency" plan is that it will immediately be challenged in the 9th Circuit, which will impose a stay. It could take months to get that stay removed by SCOTUS. (Of course, I guess he could just ignore the stay and go ahead--what can the courts do about it?)

True, they would file, but if he had a member of the rep party file for an injunction in a friendly court before they do in the 9th circus.

Some are saying any challenge to a declaration of national emergency can only go to the Supreme Court as individual federal circuit courts have no standing on a nationwide basis.

Don't know if true.

Actually, I think the prime drivers are that the Democrats don't want Presidnet Trump to have any kind of a victory, AND they want all those illegals to come in and become/birth Democrat voters.

Pelosi To Block Trump's SOTU Address Despite Government Reopening

https://www.zerohedge.com/news...government-reopening

In a move that's sure to infuriate President Trump and likely impede negotiations over the border security funding that Trump has demanded be part of any permanent plan to avert another shutdown, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still planning to postpone the State of the Union by refusing to officially invite the president to give the annual speech on Tuesday.

Asked about the SOTU, Pelosi said after a deal to end the shutdown had been reached that she and the president would discuss holding the SOTU once the government had reopened, a cryptic response that many interpreted as meaning that the speech would be postponed, according to USA Today.

"What I said to the president is when the government is opened we will discuss a mutually agreeable date," Pelosi said, adding "I'll look forward to doing that" and welcoming Trump in the House chambers when that is done.

Drew Hammill, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, later affirmed that the speech wouldn't be happening on 1/29. And on Sunday, CNN's Jim Sciutto reported that an aide to Pelosi had anonymously confirmed that the House wouldn't consider the concurrent resolution that must be passed to officially invite the president to House chambers, where the speech has traditionally been held.

New: Pelosi aide confirms SOTU will not take place this Tuesday. No information about when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi might invite President Trump to deliver the address, CNN reporting.

President Trump:

Good evening, fellow Americans.
As you already know from the Democrats’ refusal to grant me the traditional courtesy of giving the State of the Union address in the House of Representatives, the State of the Union is the worst it has been since the Civil War.

When you as voters were choosing your representatives to Congress, did you really think that the Democrats would descend to this reptilian level of behavior?

If you don’t want this virtual war between the House and the Senate, and the House and the Executive Branch to continue, I beg you to write, e-mail, phone or fax your congressional representative right now.

Here is the website where you can find that contact information.

I’ll come back in an hour and see how things are going.

Good night for now, now get to the phones!
