That crap that austin was spewing (US isnt capable....) is clearly bullshit. UK, French, Spanish...all doing this.

Could orders to the contrary be considered unlawful and ignored if they know US citizens are under imminent threat?

Movies are for entertainment, not information. Ease back on the fantasy. If you think we CONUS civilians are all worked-up about the situation, how do you think all the Joes on the ground are feeling?

There's 30-40+k Western nation nationals in the city looking to get out; the Taliban want them out as much as we want to get them out. There's no doubt that on-the-ground commanders have worked-up plans for getting teams to ID, locate and retrieve them, trying to coordinate the in-bound and out-bound traffic and most important, deconflicting with itchy-fingered Taliban kids and their big-talk masters.

Funny, when you look at that plane picture of the 600 people crammed in, how many women, children, and elderly do you see?

Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

Whats even more curious, Afghanistan has some of the largest deposits in the world of Lithium, one of the largest growing sectors is electric cars, heck electric everything, and they all run on Li batteries.

China is a heavy user of Li as is the US for e-cars.

What economic forces behind the scenes may have pressured Shoeless Joe into doing this, now, as the Li supplies are in high demand.

Why would we turn over this world economically profitable resource to the Taliban, where they can fund terrorism with dollars gained from selling Li to the E sector.

Is China making back door deals with Buydem and Afghan leaders for that resource...

Lots of money in those mountains... Lots of cheap labor to exploit....

Milli Villi says there was nothing that indicated to him that the Afghan Army and government would fall like this:

Except every E4 or E5 who ever went on a patrol or dealt with the Afghan Army:

It was just a question...

US mil leadership is saying "we cant just go get our citizens"

Clearly thats false as other countries are indeed extracting their citizens.

What info is missing? US troops going back into the city would incite violence, whereas UK / French / Spanish troops get a free pass?

Whatever is said during any presser (no matter how infuriating and inexplicable), especially if regarding an ongoing situation, with a grain of salt. What gets said to the press back in DC and what's happening on the ground, tend to be quite different; remember OPSEC.
I get the frustration, every-single-one of the people tied to this administration, who go up to the podium to speak and answer questions, have come back with more egg on their face and more memes generated about the stupidity of what they said; they literals can't get out of their own way, its remarkable.

Senior Taliban leader Waheedullah Hashimi said on Thursday the group would not implement democracy in Afghanistan because Afghan culture and Islamic sharia law do not support such a political system.

“There will be no democratic system at all because it does not have any base in our country. We will not discuss what type of political system we should apply in Afghanistan because it is clear. It is sharia law and that is it ,” Hashimi told Reuters.

The Taliban leader envisioned the Taliban forming a mullah-approved ruling council, possibly with a deputy to supreme commander Hibatullah Akhundzada as its “president.”

The most likely choice for council president appears to be Abdul Ghani Baradar, also known as Baradar the Butcher, a founding member of the Taliban who helped its fanatical spiritual leader Mullah Mohammad Omar organize students along radical Islamist lines after the Soviet invasion.

I guess they haven't received that strongly worded letter from our UN ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield

What we are seeing on the news is going to become worse very quickly. It's not just a question of how to remove Americans and Afghans, who worked with us. An Afghan with any sense is desperate to escape Taliban rule. They are the people getting into wheel wells and clinging to the fuselage of departing jets. There are thousands of them and they will overrun the airport and any departing planes. Add to that, at some point the Taliban will abandon any pretense of co-operating and start shooting people. It's going to get ugly.

That was the first thing I noticed also. Chickenshit cowards , why not seeing that women and children were first in the airport and loaded.

I would say that is just lowdown and unbelievable, but the truth is it's believable and still lowdown coming from this malfunctioning Administration.

So, like the HOV lane is blocked? I wonder if Waze has an icon for Taliban checkpoints.

The complete incompetence is amazing. Add in the fact that the president is UA and the vice president is slated to leave the country to go to Vietnam and it's just mind boggling.

I was wondering why these young, fighting age men weren't taking up arms in defense of their own country. Perhaps that's asking too much though.

I'm sure the council of Mullahs will be open minded and embrace diversity, creating an all inclusive Afghanistan.

I'm laughing at the way our Stae Department is conveying messages, a jihadi in training would behead Ned with a butter knife.

If you haven’t seen it, I recommend the Lara Logan interview with Tucker Carlson regarding Pakistan & Afghanistan. I’m sorry I don’t have a link but it’s well worth searching for. I saw it on Fox Nation. If what she describes is even partially true, it’s scary as hell
