Officials estimated the Taliban, which controls the vast majority of the war-torn Middle Eastern nation, is in possession of 2,000 armored vehicles and up to 40 aircraft, including Black Hawks and pricey ScanEagle drones, according to Reuters. Since 2003, the U.S. has given more than 600,000 infantry weapons like rifles, 162,000 pieces of communications equipment and 16,000 night-vision goggles to the Afghan security forces. Biden administration appears to have stockpiled military equipment for Taliban months before collapse Link The Biden administration had continued to ship new firearms, drones, communication gear, and more to the nation that they had plans to abandon in just a few short weeks. Even as the Taliban takeover continued, the shipments continued. The Taliban has bragged about the equipment they obtained, with videos of helicopters and firearms posted online. hello darkness my old friend |
Twenty years of fighting these morons and all we did is increase their numbers, and equip them with all the equipment they could ever need and never get. It was clear to everyone that this country would fall and no one ever asked about giving them night vision and world class radios? They can't really hide the armor and aircraft from us but i'm betting Biden wont touch it when we actually pull up stakes. So much for owning the night...

OK. I think it's a fucking duck. There is no way that the current administration tried to wag the dog and accidently screwed the pooch. This looks to me as if it was a planned effort to provide material to the enemy, and that our young men and woman, or our allies, will face this enemy utilizing our weapons in the very near future. The same guy that wants to infringe on our 2nd, has just handed over lock, stock, and barrel, to our enemy in many billions of dollars of weapons we are restricted from owning. Who's the fucking domestic terrorist now? Look to Washington, it is the den of vipers. "the meaning of life, is to give life meaning" ✡ Ani Yehudi אני יהודי Le'olam lo shuv לעולם לא שוב!

I've seen some unconfirmed reports, or perhaps speculation, that some of this high tech munitions and gear is either available for inspection by Iran, Pakistan, Russia, and China reps. or will be shipped their direction for some reverse engineering. I've even seen one report mention the Taliban has captured Laser Guided munitions. I'm also wondering about whether the standard electronics onboard U.S. combat aircraft; RWR, IFF, FLIR, GPS, LARS for downed aircrews, missile/ laser warning systems, SADL data link etc.. were on any of the captured aircraft. I'm guessing team Axis of Evil would love to get a hold of this black magic. Heck, my understanding is that the UH-60 rotor head and blade technology are fairly high tech or, at least were, when the design was new. Pretty pathetic that this weaponry and gear that is illegal to sell/ transfer outside the U.S. without State Department ITAR approvals, the Biden administration just gave to the Taliban/ Al Qaeda, and our other world adversaries, free of charge, and even threw in free expedited shipping. The whiz bangs at DARPA and defense contractors better get crackin' on cookin' up some ideas to harden some of this tech, or come up with some new stuff pronto, before the next shootin' war starts.

The cave dwellers can use the vehicles and rifles and crew served weapons and explosives, but they cannot maintain the high tech stuff and aircraft. A smart Taliban will sell that stuff to the highest bidder who has the tech capability and a desire to know what makes our stuff tick. China, Russia, Pakistan, N. Korea, Iran, etc. Or perhaps they can hire mercenaries with the skills to maintain and operate the stuff themselves, but that would require the tribes to cooperate. Nah, they will go for the cash and then go back to killing one another. The thing that concerns me is the terrorists getting their hands on thermal and IR night vision and good old fashioned bomb making material. CMSGT USAF (Retired) Chief of Police (Retired)

President Biden, facing intense criticism over the chaotic push to get Americans and Afghan allies out of Afghanistan, will speak about the evacuation effort on Friday afternoon. The remarks, planned for 1 p.m., come after days of tumult in and around Hamid Karzai International Airport since the Taliban took Kabul, the Afghan capital. The United States has struggled to quickly process visas for evacuees, and images of Afghans clinging to departing U.S. military aircraft have circulated around the world. https://hotair.com/ed-morrisse...gain-at-1-et-n410279

The Dems will do the same thing they always do when something goes wrong . First , blame Trump . That's an automatic reaction that doesn't really work but it's in the playbook so ... Then they throw out some generic statements that are equally as useless but it buys time . But mainly , they just circle the wagons and wait for it to blow over . It always does . This one is big , and people are pissed but you don't see anybody in the streets with pitchforks and torches either . I wish I could be optimistic that people are going to be held accountable but so far I'm not seeing it .

I'm sure they did, but at least to me, "gun run" evokes images from "Black Hawk Down" of convoys running the gauntlet of exchanging full-auto fire. Anyway, admittedly it's just semantics. Apropos of BHD. Germany is currently airlifting two H145M special operations support helicopters (similar to the related UH-72 type) into Kabul. It's a mostly technical solution to the congestion problems outside due to Taliban checkpoints and panicked crowds hindering access for evacuees; there have been reports of US troops turning European citizens away from the gates in the tense, confused situation. A German national got shot somewhere on the way today, but is not critical. I'm sure any flights into the city will still be under agreements with the Taliban. The type is singularly well-suited to picking up half a dozen people at a time from an average urban intersection; the civilian variants are used that way as air ambulances round here. Though hot-and-high conditions, self-defense suite etc. will probably limit useful load.

Yep, and just try to confiscate guns, Try taking AR-15 from citizens and see what happens. It was true before this debacle, it's even more true now. You're going to give taxpayer-purchased weapons of war to psychopathic terrorists and then say that legally-armed Americans are the problem? Fuuuuck you, Joe. Suck it, baby.

People take to the streets for things they perceive as affecting them directly, and this does not (yet) affect them directly. When these pissed-off terrorists who've been released from years of incarceration start coming across our open southern border and bomb US cities and kill Americans, then people will be heard.

The average person that doesn't watch the news and spends all their time reading celebrity gossip (a large % of the population) probably doesn't even know or care much about what is happening in Afghanistan. Just like they didn't care about losing an Ambassador in Benghazi due to Hilary Clinton's corrupt and inept State Department. When the names and faces of the current MIA's turn into KIA's, there may be some more reaction among the general public, especially if the Taliban televises the executions.

Graphic: Taliban Execute Police Chief, Intensify Hunt For Afghans Who Worked With Americans https://www.zerohedge.com/geop...who-worked-americans Despite promises not to seek retribution against their ideological enemies following their takeover of Afghanistan, the Taliban is doing just that. On Thursday, horrifying video of the Taliban executing an Afghan police chief emerged. Haji Mullah Achakzai, a former Afghan Armed Forces member who became police chief of the Badghis province near Herat, was captured by the Taliban and executed for fighting alongside the Afghan army. The execution video, posted to Twitter by a friend of Mr Achakzai on Thursday, showed the police chief kneeling in the sand with his eyes blindfolded and his hands tied in front of him. He is surrounded by Taliban soldiers who then shoot him several times and leave his body lying in the sand. The video was shared through a Taliban-related network and obtained by Afghan security adviser Nasser Waziri. -News.com.au video at link. Meanwhile, the Taliban has intensified its search for people who worked with US and Nato forces, according to a confidential UN document cited by the Times of India. The report -- provided by the UN's threat-assessment consultants -- says the group has "priority lists" of individuals it wants to arrest. Most at risk are people who had central roles in the Afghan military, police and intelligence units, according to the document. The Taliban have been conducting "targeted door-to-door visits" of individuals they want to apprehend and their family members, the report says. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." I'm sorry to say, that is just about damn right. Anytime they want to push for "gun control" they should get AFGHANISTAN!! KABUL!! thrown in their faces. Instead of "Attica!! Attica!! Attica!!" it should be "Afghanistan!! Afghanistan!! Afghanistan!!"

My question comes admittedly from ignorance so please be gentle…. What can the Taliban do with the aircraft left behind, planes and helicopters are complicated. Can they actually operate them and if so can they maintain them for very long? My thought is they would do best to sell them to more sophisticated psychopaths like Iran and China for the purpose of reverse engineering the tech. Is this their best/only option to get some value from the hardware left behind? I expect they can use the small arms and such until they run out of nato ammo…. ______________________________ “I'd like to know why well-educated idiots keep apologizing for lazy and complaining people who think the world owes them a living.” ― John Wayne
