That initially responding officer was really calm for the situation. Not what you usually hear in those situations. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

I feel bad for the officers having to do that but that machete monster showed he was looking for a fight. I was glad to see the poor cashier at the store was ok after the swing that monster took at her.He was doing evil and this is what happens when you do that.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
They tried but gave him way too much opportunity to endanger people in the store where they had less control. The Taser was always going to be an unlikely solution with the clothing he was wearing. I don't think he ever intended to give it up based on his statements outside. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

A legally armed American would have the same chance as the deputies against a machete wielding assailant unlike victims of knife/machete attacks in the UK. Harshest Dream, Reality

Agree! Initial responding officer did it by the book. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. The thick clothing should have been an indicator that Taser would not work.

Do---or do not. There is no try. |
Backup officers meant well, but there's gotta be only one voice giving instructions, period. The suspect was probably hearing more than one voice in his head already.

Tasers, REALLY? He’s holding a goddamn deadly weapon, won’t drop it, and keeps moving to where innocents may be hurt. SHOOT HIM. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. He was appropriately ventilated and the officer did very well with multiple rounds on the target.

Did we hear eleven shots? Fourteen? Were they all from one source? All 9MM's from state-of-the-art red-dotted, maxi-round-count striker-fired sidearms? Did they all penetrate 14-16" and stop within the soon to be carcass? Could we see a diagram of where all the officers and civilian no-shoots were located in relation to the suicide-by-cop looneytune? ____________________

Well, that was predictable (up to and including the clueless member of the public who tried to walk between the four cops with guns drawn and the suspect to get into the store). De-escalation is a concept that's being pushed heavily by people who don't understand it, and the criminals are even getting in on the game. I've had people screaming at me before from the back of the squad car saying "you were supposed to de-escalate me!" You can't de-escalate somebody. That's a choice they have to make for themselves. You can bring a measure of order and calm into a situation and create an environment where it's easy for the suspect to comply, which these officers did well during the initial contact, but ultimately the suspect has to make the choice to go along with the program. In this case he chose not to, and the outcome is entirely on him.

Fairly early in the video, I was goofball thinking, "what would be the result if the store manager could turn off or cut the power to the sliding door, to keep it from opening as Mister Twoblade backs up toward it?" It might have lessened the chance for people in the store to be interference in the process, but I don't know if it would have helped or hindered the officers at the scene. - - - - - I do know the switch for doors like that is often right at the door facing, so it would have been dangerous for someone to approach it. God bless America.

True, but also true in every other country in Europe apart from Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Austria and Estonia. Why single out the UK again? Can't you spell any of the other thirty-nine countries in Europe where there is no right to carry a gun for self-defence? And BTW, there are around 3500 CCW permits, with free pistols to go with them, on issue to citizens of Northern Ireland, part of the UK. This is a legacy of the recent Troubles. Qualifying people are certain police officers, members of the judiciary, certain members of the legal profession and members of the reserve Armed forces - all of whom have real threats against their lives from continuing terrorism activity.
