I just pulled the trigger on a Orca 58 in the sea foam green.

Got it 20% off so it came to $300 shipped. Pretty exited about it.

I was arguing with myself between the 58 quart and and 75 quart but, in the end, decided the 75 would be overkill for what I need.

Ill never understand how people have convinced themselves that they need to spend $300 dollars on a cooler. I have a Coleman xtreme that does nearly as well as a yeti/rtic for a fraction of the price- and its lighter.

I am extremely tempted to buy the 65. It would be extremely helpful on the trips to Costco or when we are out four wheeling.

Anyone have any other recommendations on a good cooler?
I’m looking for rotomolded and something that has great insulation.

You will be pleased with RTIC. Very sturdy and are ridiculously insulated. I would recommend these over Yeti given the price difference.

I would have pulled the trigger a couple hours ago, but Mrs. Cooker is unsure. She doesn’t think it’s necessary, even though every time we go to Costco (hour drive) she stresses about meat, milk, eggs, etc getting overheated and we have to race home with no stops or fun along the way because the perishables May warm up.
Not to mention we can’t buy Costco ice cream bars/popsicles, which sucks.

This would solve all that. At 40% off!!!

For your needs an Igloo marine extreme cooler at $45-70 would do everything you need it to do and holds ice as good as a super cooler and it's a much easier sell, it's also a hell of a lot lighter and easier to get in and out of the car each time you want to use it.

In review of the service provided by my pre-kerfuffle Yeti, now 3+ years past.

Of course had the political crisis arisen a few months earlier, I could have avoided initial purchase, but my crystal ball was out for buffing at the time.

And given the stink finger at NRA Hdqtrs, we may not have been advised of all the issues affecting the contract termination.

In any case, having to answer the question myself of 'what kind of madness etc spending $xxx on a COOLER' etc for gawdsakes....

I have fallen into a 'hot season' experimental habit of simply mounting my 50qt in the back of the Jeep for the duration. I replentish ice as needed over the several weeks at a time as needed. Handier than I anticipated for random extended grocery trips as well. Plus those long sweaty range sessions no longer leave me subject to dehydration & the unaccountable deterioration of my egg salad sannies.....

So if I assign "60" such seasonally-intense user days plus "30" other single use occasions over 38 months since, my user-cost per outing now breaks lower than the cost of ice for such use. And I refreeze my own ice jugs, so the exercise merely helps sooth my still jagged pocketbook for initial cost.

Nothing is broken or worn on my overpriced yet bulky cooler, and looks to be serviceable well into the future. I'm sure it will outlast my concern over what it cost in the first place.

Keep seeing stickers for "SHITI" coolers, on the back of pickups, lately.

Are those better than the yeti ones?

They're just stickers and brand plates. You take a SHITI sticker or brand plate, rebrand your common, everyday cooler, and you now have a cooler of which a millennial would be proud Smile

A chunk of DRY ICE will keep the frozen treats just perfectly well frozen for that, especially well for all day long. I brought frozen Chile Rellenos from Albuquerque back to OKC and they were still frozen solid. I bought the Chile Rellenos one afternoon, spent the night at a hotel in Albuquerque, then drove 9 hours to OKC, got home tired, looked in the cooler, still frozen solid. Went to bed, next morning unpacked the cooler into my freezer, they were still frozen solid. I highly recommend Dry Ice, and learning how to utilize it. You can even store refrigerated, not frozen, foods in your cooler, using Dry Ice. You may not need a so called super cooler.

So I pulled the trigger on the rtic 45. I may not need the super cooler, but I can strap it down in either of the ORVs and not worry about splitting it at the seams.
I can also grab it to the river and if it gets dropped in the rocks, I don’t have to fret over it cracking. I can also sit on it, and not cave it in.
So I think I did pretty good, factoring that I scored 40% off with free shipping.

I can’t wait for it to arrive!!!
Thanks for all the insight mt brothers.
