That’s weird.

Not really.

No. It's weird. It confounds me why any man would refer to his wife that way.

Geez, lighten up. Really. It's a euphemism used to amuse you about the relationship between a man and his wife. You know: Happy wife, happy life and all that.

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Some of us have a sense of humor and get it just fine.

Along the lines of jokingly (but only part jokingly, that's also part of the joke) referring to your wife as 'the boss' or 'my better half'.

One reason you behave in public, is that you don't know who is around you and what they might do.

Is this person a coward? Probably, but primarily they are insulated, privileged, and stupid.

Someone, at some point, will teach them a lesson about that behavior.

110% accurate right there. It's a matter of time, and I trust the first responder (no insult to first responders) will deliver the object lesson effectively.
