I have one (half) electrical outlet connected to a wall switch in my living for turning a lamp on & off - pretty standard stuff. I'd like to have a second lamp on the other side of the room go on and off with that same wall switch. Rather than going through rewiring or using a splitter and extension cord, I'd like to use simple gadgets that plug into the outlets and communicate with each other so both outlets go on/off together. I've looked through home automation products, but everything I've seen is way more advanced than that or has its own remote control (which I don't want) or uses Alexa/Google (which is never going to be found in my house). Anyone know of a simple plug-in gadget that's available that will basically make the second lamp a slave to the first? With the Clapper you just leave the switch on all the time and clap to turn both lights on or off.

The clapper isn't quite what I want, but thanks for the suggestion. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

We bought a Bluetooth controlled bulb for a lamp in my daughters room. You can change colors, dim, or turn on/off the bulb with your phone.

Those products don't fit my need, either - I don't want to have to use a dedicated remote or my phone; I just want to flip the wall switch and have both lamps turn on or off. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

I just saw what you are looking for at Menards. A regular-looking white rocker switch with cover plate, and a remote that plugs in to a 110 v outlet. Rocker switch controls the remote in the outlet. The rocker plate assembly is about a half inch thick to accomodate the transmitter so would would have to cut and mount in the drywall. I assume they will have them at menards.com if you dont have stores nearby.

Thanks, ranger - I'll look at those. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

Not exactly what you described, but I've gone with a couple of these in similar situations. Can be programmed, turned off remotely and with two clicks on my phone it toggles on or off. Cool. Linky. ![]() You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

I looked at the X10 modules; I don't see anything as simple as what I want. As I said, I don't want to have a remote to use, or to use my phone to control the lights - I just want to use the wall switch. Everything I've looked at seems to use a remote, phone or Alexa/Google interface. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

We use these in our living room. There are various versions. Web bought the three pack. You'd have to push two buttons but on same remote...easy peasy... https://www.amazon.com/Etekcit...ords=etekcity+outlet _____________________________ Pledge allegiance or pack your bag! A non invasive option would be to buy 2 Lutron Caseta Lamp Dimmers and one Lutro Pico switch You would then plug the lamp dimmers into the wall and pair them to the Pico Switch. You would just leave the switch you have now on all the time and use the Pico switch to turn your lamps on and off. The pico switch is wireless and they make both a wall plate and a tabletop pedestal. Another slightly more involved option would be to buy a Lutron Caseta Wireless switch to replace your existing wall switch and then buy one of the plug in lamp controllers above and pair it to the Caseta switch. I'm 99% sure the Caseta wall switch and the lamp controller will pair together but can check for sure with my old rep next week if you like. Edit to add I realize you want to use the existing switch but these were the closest options I could think of.

Thanks, sureshot. If they will pair, it seems like they would do exactly what I want. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards
