Tell me where and I’m in. Not a fan of Gary though. All kidding aside, what about the Elkhart area ? I was out there last year and liked that a lot. We go to Shipshewana every year and that has some nice areas off the beaten path that I liked.

Actually, it wasn't the embassy, it was the Pittman apartment building. Now back to the discussion.

Don't blame you...I wouldn't move to Gary, either lol. I think Elkhart starts above $60k/year for a new guy and goes up from there. Looks like $72K a year for a lateral (years of service dependent)...pretty good money for the cost of living around here. They have a lot of turnover, and always seem to be hiring. From my perspective, it's a rough place to work...would probably be like heaven coming from Chicago, though. Shipshewana PD is small, but their Town Marshall, Tom Fitch (I think he's still there) is top-notch...he is an ILEA master instructor and puts on some first class training. Really nice guy, and from what I've seen he invests in his guys. I don't think that would be a bad place to work at all, provided you can get along with the Amish! The ILEA job postings board ( https://www.in.gov/ilea/bullet...t-job-opportunities/) is a mile long right now. I remember back when I started there were like 3 or 4 listings on this page at a time...I worked 6 years for free as a reserve waiting for something to open up at my department. Different world these days.

They were both complete pieces of shit. We were fucked either way. The fucker that lost was pro-AWB and anti-Trump and anti-DeSantis. There was no 'hold my nose and vote for the lesser evil.' They're both evil. Year V

The fact that Lightfoot got 17% third place is remarkable.....by how far out-of-joint Chicago is.

I've got friends in LaPorte, and trust me, I've been looking!!! I have to do a few more years, but I'm seriously considering moving the family out now, selling the house here in Chicago and just me renting some small 1br apartment close to work. all I have to do, per my department is spend 51% of my time here in Chicago. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Chicago year after year is a slaughterhouse arising out of the illegal drug trade. The voter go for far left goofballs for elected officials. Let the city sink further into the muck. Just had a buddy from work lateral over to Laporte Co. Sheriff's Dept...they're hiring, too! Evean had a recruiter at a job fair at our local college last month...I was there working a security detail and gave him a hard time for poaching the local talent...he told me I should apply .

Sounds like a good plan, CPD! Your life will be so much better! Another thought, though I don't know the job situation, is south of where I was. Beautiful country down there and no lake effect snow, which can be a bitch in Porter County.

Perhaps with the Brandon Johnson tax plan will be the final nail in Chicago. It could very well be the bottom that we desperately need before we are the new Detroit. With pension liabilities exceeding 50+ Billion, property taxes are about to see an exponential increase the likes we've never seen before. Plus add the fact that the CTU will be expecting on hell of a raise later this year when their contract expires, we will be royally screwed. I pray that it won't be the case, but I don't think even GOD wants any part of this mess. Even the most robust Chicagoans will have to face the reality that it is over. The Working Police..... Not sure who you are referring to but Vallas is not by any means a Leftist. The other guy however is and could actually be worse than Lightfoot. And he could win. I agree. As stated the problem is that NONE of the candidates are good, just some are not as fucked up as the others but that list gets rancid fast. Vallas is tolerable, certainly a huge upgrade from the Bug. But, the list goes south right after his name. The candidate he will run against Johnson is FAR WORSE than the BUG. The scary part is that Vallas won by about 15% of the vote and he is WHITE, MALE. Chicago is all about race. Johnson and all the other candidates are either Black or Hispanic. The Blacks will not vote for Vallas and the Hispanics might cast a few votes for him but most will vote for (free shit) Johnson. I hate to say it but I think that Johnson will defeat Vallas and we will be even worse off than now. Johnson will drive out business, any whites that don't have to work and live in the city of Chicago will find themselves hitting the road out of here, crime and corruption will go through the roof. I can only imagine how hard it is now for the CPD, With Johnson as Mayor it will become intolerable. I hope I'm wrong! ________________________________________________ UPDATE I called this one early. Unfortunately, having lived in and near Chicago for almost 72 years I can see the train wrecks coming here. I thought that with the local crime reports everyday on the news and the interviews of the people crying about how they don't feel safe here anymore, we had hit the bottom. Not in Chicago or Illinois, or many other states or cities. Look at Wisconsin a State that is said MUST be won by Republicans in order to win a Presidency. They had an election for the Wisconsin Supreme Court yesturday. Another progressive Judge running against a Republican judge. The Progressive Female Judge blew out the Republican candidate. This gives control of the Wisconsin Supreme court to the libs. No way a Republican will ever win that State again. And so goes it with many other States. The Give me crowd is now firmly in control and will out number us now and in the future. One look at the crowds attending the victory party for Johnson here in Chicago, graphically points out the people who will lead this City, as said before, We are FUCKED! This message has been edited. Dan Kelly in Wisconsin refused PDJT's endorsement and distanced himself from MAGA. Ron Johnson won senate in 2022 running heavy MAGA - Kelly was a flawed candidate who committed political suicide. Chicago is just fucked. ________________________ God spelled backwards is dog

Yikes. Any of you CPD guys want to come here? We do lateral pay. 80k a year to start if you have 15 years on. I get if you have pensions to worry about, but if not, in all seriousness, anyone interested? I can get you in. We are in MO, and have way better gun laws, lower taxes, and way lower cost of living. “Brandon Johnson, Union Organizer and Former Teacher, Elected Chicago Mayor in Victory for Progressives.” Progressive Chicagoans, already reeling from the dystopian leftist policies of Lori Lightfoot, are about to learn how bad it can really get. An openly gay marxist, Johnson was the zaniest, wokest liberal on the ballot. His incoherent slogan-based platform included de-funding the police, to teach them a lesson for racism, or whatever. During the campaign, Brandon snookered Chicago voters by promising that, instead of spending money on policing and incarceration, the city will focus on mental health treatment, affordable housing for all, and “jobs for youth.” To pay for all these new programs, Brandon explained his secret economic plan will quickly raise $800 million — through the novel technique of taxing “ultrarich” people and the last-standing Chicago businesses, cramming down a per-employee “head tax” on employers (so much for jobs for youth), and piling even more taxes on already-dwindling hotel room stays. Chicago retailers, already dealing with sky-high taxes and chaotic crime sprees, were understandably not taking it too well. A WGN-TV interviewer asked Brandon, "Do you worry about stores leaving Chicago and the county because they don't think it's safe?" Brandon airily dismissed the concern, explaining "these companies have insurance and assurance." He also said, "you can't take a certain level of urgency to protect capital and the wealthy and not have that same tenacity to provide relief for families that have been devastated through structural racism for generations.” Well, he has a point. How does protecting retail stores help anybody except rich fatcat retail store owners? So let’s go, Brandon! https://www.coffeeandcovid.com...ack&utm_medium=email "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor
