The taquerias I visit would give you cilantro+onion, lime wedge to squeeze on, and a choice of fine salsa; I like a medium tomatillo salsa verde.

My man!

Exactly how I like my street tacos. Bit of cilantro and onion, a squeeze of lime, and some medium salsa verde.

These men are correct.

All the other stuff listed doesn't go inside the taco, it's dippings and sides.
Yup.
+4

Make street tacos or tacos al carbon (a Houston staple)

BTW, the commies win if you put rice on your tacos. There should be so much meat on the tortilla that there isn’t room for low budget filler crap.

Make sure you use a board sauce with olive oil, garlic and cilantro to season your sliced steak after grilling and before incorporating into the tacos. It will make a world of difference to the flavor.

Yeah, absolutely don't put that shit in there. Rice is a side. The taco is for scooping the sides up. Think of it like an edible spoon to go with your fork, spoon, knife, whatever. Have refried beans with it also. Enjoy. Big Grin

Steak tacos are a favorite of ours. Fresh corn tortillas, chopped onion, cilantro, lime, tomatillo salsa and usually some jalapeno slices for me.

Cook up some Chorizo.
Mix it with the steak, diced onions and cilantro, a squeeze of lime, and a few cold beers.

Chips & salsa, guacamole, some grilled scallions.
A shot or two of tequila...
