How many more laws do we need if the feds are going ignore their responsibility?

How many more laws do we need if local law enforcement is going to ignore their responsibility?

^^^As a disclaimer...only watch that if you want to get pissed off. It's basically 30 min of a rigged audience shouting Dana down.

Dana did well in that that environment.

Yep. Watched the whole CNN townhall. Sheriff wants all AR-15 style rifles banned. I thought Dana handled the questions well. Clearly a big divide on knowledge on what the second amendment means including "well regulated militia".

Related to the video above...

The NRA should have known better
- A hall full of upset, pissed off, hurt people being stoked by the anti-gun movement
- An Anti-Gun Sheriff who won't take responsibility for the failure of his department to heed warnings
- Moderated by CNN

I give her credit, she made logical statements about the facts and that crowd was having none if it.

Yes, but why even get to that point? They are suggesting they need an ban to prevent future school shootings. Columbine happening under the 94 ban knocks every part of that argument out of the water.

Yes, she did well considering those kids acted like a bunch of jerks. Don't like the answer, shout down the speaker, class 101..

Bunch of spoiled brats.

These town hall "debates" are nothing more than organized left wing verbal lynchings of those who oppose their gun control agenda. I applaud people like Dana and Rubio for going into the lion's den, for them it's a lose/lose situation. If they don't show then they're cowards and are ruthlessly shamed by the media, if they go they're jeered, booed, and ruthlessly shamed by the media. Fuck CNN with a big rusty pole or a splintery post.

Rubio is a smarmy little prick who is still running for president.

Broward Co. Sheriff is a condescending, smarmy prick who is desperate to save his job come the next election.

Nielson is a walking billboard for senility research and term limits.

CNN is...well...CNN.

For every student in that room screaming for gun control there are a dozen students in flyover country who own guns and use them responsibly.

Didn't watch the shoutdown but step back and consider that these PR stunts aren't going to somehow persuade gun owners to go along with any ban...hasn't in the past, won't in the future.

Many people see through these stunts and given how much the media is despised, do they think that people are going to put a lot of weight into what the media is saying?

Good summary. The sheriff is an anti-gun idiot.

Her answer to the History teachers heavily loaded question should have been simple.

Ma'am, thank your for your question but I'll point out that you only quoted 1/2 of the 2nd Amendment. Since you cannot apply half of the statement, for clarity it states

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The first part that you addressed in your question means that a well regulated militia is formed from the the people in order to defend the country from threats to a free State, which includes opposing an oppressive government. Regulated meaning trained, equipped, which we'll cover in a minute, and capable of functioning as a viable unit in battle. Regulated does not mean restricted by laws and controlled or equipped by the government. That group is called the Military.

The second part reads the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This is the important part as it clearly states that our citizens have the guaranteed right to keep and bear arms. This is how the militia is equipped, by good, responsible, armed citizens banding together to confront the threat with their own arms.

It is as protected as your right to challenge government polices, protest, and voice opinion.

The town hall was a no-win situation for anyone who supports anything short of an immediate and full ban on "assault weapons." 7000 in attendance, according to CNN, cearly many of whom knew victims, or at least students at that school, the rest mostly antis.

It's impossible to stand there talking to a victim or family member of victim, make a perfectly sound argument against their position, and not come off looking really bad to that audience.

It was very frustrating to watch, as expected. Most frustrating to me was that at the least Rubio and Dana should have been hammering on the fact that our society is producing these sick fucks all too frequently, and our media is turning them into celebrities. The whole discussion was about the best way to close the barn door after the horse has already left. Nobody had the balls to say there are lots of sick fucks out there, and they're gonna find ways to kill us in numbers, no matter what we outlaw.

By the way, Rubio said he's now willing to reconsider putting a limit on "magazine clip" capacity because he's had "more information" on how that might help to lower the body count sometimes. Roll Eyes

That is what the crowd wanted.
Something to blame (the firearm) and someone to pin it on (the NRA).

Simple-minded response to a complicated problem.

Very discouraging to see young people that cannot understand the precious freedom we have as Americans. And all too willing to give it up.

And to listen to that sheriff talk about law enforcement needing more power so they can keep everyone safe. What a fucking joke.

Sounds like law enforcement knew all about that murderer. They apparently have been to his house several times and had received a number of calls about him.

Law enforcement has some explaining to do.

Kudos to Dana for trying. The sheriff is clearly riding the coattail of emotion of his constituents. Especially since there may have been some inaction on this killer.
It seems the sentiment was to try "something" going forward and the something must be gun related and not mental health.
It is hard to teach children. Even harder to teach children through high emotions.

I was really impressed with Dana. While not a resident of Parkland, I am there at least once a month.... Here's my take on the local population (not to paint with a broad brush...)

-Rich, pill popping moms and dads
-Entitled, spoiled, kids.. no discipline, little respect for authority
-Drugs are rampant - almost acceptable/normal teen behavior

Being south florida, a lot of people are transplants from up north. Naturally, the political leanings are very left.
