This is going to be a little long. His name was Bobby. Back in 1985 I joined my local volunteer fire department. One of our “old timers” had a 2-story house that he had renovated into 2 apartments several years earlier. On the first floor was a member of our department and close friend who I ended up working with for about 15 years before moving to Florida. On the second floor was another member of the fire department, his wife and infant daughter (our God Daughter) who were also very close friends. As the story goes… one day our friends heard their infant daughter (18-24 months old at the most) talking in her bedroom. Her mother went in to find her sitting on the floor in front of an open closet door. She asked, “who are you talking to?” Her daughter said Bobby. Her mom thought that was cute and that she had an imaginary friend. However, after that day things started to get a little strange. One day the husband came home from work and put his car keys down on the counter. When he went back to get them, they were gone. They tore the apartment apart and couldn’t find them. A few days later they found them sitting on the kitchen table. The next thing to go missing was his business check book. Again, they tore the apartment apart looking for it, including flipping the couch over with no luck. Several weeks later the checkbook appeared on the kitchen table. Next thing to go missing was a piece of jewelry, and after an exhausted search they were not found. Then one day the jewelry reappeared again. Meanwhile, all this time the daughter was still having conversations with and playing with “Bobby”. A personal incident, the wife was taking a bath and had fallen asleep in the tub. At some point she was startled awake by a washcloth slapping her in the face. She had slipped down into the tub, and her face was very close to going under the water. There was no body in the bathroom or at home apart from the baby who was sleeping. This went on for about a year. One day the daughter came running out of the bedroom hysterically crying holding her hand. Our friend asked what happened and her comment was “Bobby tried to bite me”. Our friend (the wife) went into the daughter's bedroom and stood in front of the open closet and proceeded to yell at Bobby for trying to bite her daughter and told him that he “needed to go”. They never heard from Bobby again and never had anything else disappear. This story goes back about 33 years and to the best of my recollection of how things happened. And my other friend who lived on the first floor never had any encounters similar that we are aware. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. Yesterday I was going to repair my daughter’s Oster blender. I had ordered a replacement drive biscuit but wanted to reuse the original one, thinking it just loosened off threaded motor shaft. Where was it? It was not between the base and the liquid container. I looked all around the garage. I had put a doormat on top of the freezer to make a work table of sorts, and started the repair work. Nothing was on the door mat but what I placed there. Base housing, motor subassembly, and liquid container. Went to the mailbox to get the amazon package with the replacement. Walked back. Started to put the new parts together. And right there on the doormat was the old part. How did it get there? Weird. And the old part would not thread back on the motor shaft so I needed the new. But I looked for a good fifteen minutes before going to the mailbox. Where was it? ------- Trying to simplify my life...

my brother from another mother is a reenactor, and his group does very authentic representations, as in all period type, hand made or made on period equipment uniforms, etc etc, his small group was at Gettysburg, and got to camp on the grounds, with permission of the NPS, he said it was a bit spooky, no apparitions etc but a very odd feeling you were not alone, my grandfather and father were carpenters for a bit, taught me a thing or 2, but Granpa died in the early 80's wife and I got married, bought a house in 86 with an upstairs unfinished, did most of the work myself, and not long after we had moved into the upstairs (bedroom, bathroom and Den) I was home alone, walked from the den, to the bedroom (about a 8 foot hallway, where the steps go down ) and as I passed the steps, I saw grandpa looking up from the bottom step, saw him smiled, thought there is Grandpa, and never missed a step, then froze, when my pea brain relized he had been dead about 6 yrs,,, took a moment to get the nerve to step back, but he was gone https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

I worked in a very old prison, built in 1934. We were undergoing a mission change, the female convicts shipped out and male shipped in. Myself and an another officer were assigned the midnight to eight shift by ourselves for two weeks, just to walk thru occasionally and monitor fire alarms. On the second night the officer called me on the radio and asked me to come to Bluegrass Unit. I went and he directed me to the first floor tv room. As we approached we saw it had about 35 male inmates in it, watching tv and making the normal convict racket. We saw and smelled cigarette smoke, BUT THE PRISON HAD NO INMATES IN IT! Ed asked me what I wanted to do. I suggested we depart rapidly for the office and drink coffee. We did. I had a number of similar experiences at this prison.

My wife was given a gift of four gourmet donuts by a friend for her birthday. She ate one and I ate two, and the last one was, of course, for her. That donut disappeared over night. It was there, and then it was not. There's only one explanation- yep, ghosts. Thieving bastards.

When I was in high school one of my friends moved from a house near me in town to a new house just outside of town. Shortly after they moved in I was invited over for a bonfire. While seated around the fire, my friends dad proceeds to tell the story of how they got a great deal on the house because the old guy who lived there alone had been found burned up in a pile of brush that he had been burning and tending..."I guess he just fell into the fire" he said. I thought it was a creepy story but I never thought much of it after that night. Over the years I had been over for lots of bonfires, but never spent the night, until a year or so after college when I had been back in town. It got pretty late and my friends parents said I could crash on the couch in the basement. My friends room was the only finished part of the basement. The couch I had been assigned was just kind of in the middle of the basement on a rug. There was a TV on a stand and a computer on a folding table, but the rest of the basement was wide open. I was sleeping on the couch when I woke up sometime during the night and looked across the basement. I CLEARLY saw a flaming figure pacing back and forth by the furnace. I froze in fear not believing what I was seeing. The figure stopped pacing and turned and looked at me for a second. The next thing I knew the figure started running at me at a full sprint. The only thing I had time to do was close my eyes. All of a sudden I felt a strong pressure on my body and even though my eyes were closed, the only thing I could see was flames, like I was inside of a fire. I tried to yell, but nothing came out and my body was completely paralyzed. After about 15 seconds the flames I was seeing went away and I could move again. After I regained my composure, I sat up for a while trying to figure out what had just happened. I convinced myself that I must've been dreaming and tried to go back to sleep. I mentioned the strange incident to my friend's dad the next morning at breakfast, telling him I wasn't sure if it had been real or not. I remember him looking at me and just saying "Yeah, that kind of stuff happens around here every so often." That was the first and last night I ever stayed in that house. Hater of fun since 2001!

I live in a house that is well over 100 years old, perhaps from early records it may be as much as 136 years old. At first it was built as a school house for black children, then converted into a home, later it became a "shot house" (to illegally buy liquor by the drink), and then it was a poker house, and then back to being a residence again. I have found evidence making me believe there was a shootout at the house in the distant past, that involved some foreign military rifle, and a Colt 1911 (not an A1). When I moved in 24 years ago strange things immediately started happening, and after I figured out there was some pattern I started keeping a hand written record. There were many instances, too many to detail here. Several but not all involved items showing up where there was no reason for them to be. Since I was the only one living in the house, and I do not sleep walk, I could not come up logical explanations. Once I actually received a minor injury that resulted in some bleeding, and at that point I decided it was time to do something. I verbally did a one way communication with what I believed to be some other entity in the house, told them I suspected this used to be their house, but it was my house now, that I was not going any where, that I was not trying to disrespect them, that we could both be here at the same time, etc. That pretty much ended it, and I have not had any problems since. I don't care what anyone thinks about this, it was just something I thought needed to be done to address the situation. Maybe if I have time later can give you some specifics. I gave Resurrection Mary (Chicago area residents may know of her) a ride one night while driving from my cousin's place in Lemont to my grandparent's house in Hickory Hills. Cruising up Archer by the forest preserve in my shit brown '74 Pinto station wagon. A beautiful but quiet girl. I dropped her off and then she just vanished, It creeped me out for awhile. I have many others, but nothing after the age of about 25. I've always though that that was odd. They just stopped. This message has been edited. When I was four or five years old, my mother took me to the country to visit a friend of hers. A summer thunderstorm knocked out the electricity. It was as black as night, and I was frightened by the thunder and lightning. Mom was holding me over her shoulder. Looking into an adjacent room, a thunderbolt lit up a headless woman! I screamed in terror! It was a dressmaker’s dummy, of course. Serious about crackers.

I usually save this for close to Halloween and tell the younger folk that report to me. Every word of this story is true. Once upon a time when I was a young man I was riding with a trainee and we got a mental consumer call to a tiny little house in a low income part of town. I knock on the door and a sweet little old lady who bore a striking resemblance to Yoda answered the door. She was tiny and ancient and full of life. I ask her what is wrong and she looks at me with mix of sincerity and embarrassment and says “I hate to bother you with this, but it’s the people. The people in the mirror.” “The people in the mirror,” I ask. “Yes,” she says, still slightly embarrassed.”they come at night.” She shows me the mirror in her bedroom. There is of course no sign anyone else has been there. I ask her to tell me about them. “They come to me at night when I’m alone. They’re dressed all in white and they gesture for me to come with them. I can’t see their faces, but I feel like I know them. I’m afraid.” “Are they here now?” I ask. “No,” with a look like I’ve just said something stupid, “they come at night when I’m alone.” I have my rookie check the house. Not surprisingly, no one is there. “Ma’am, it looks like everything is ok now. If you need us please call back. We will be glad to check the house for you.” She looks at me with a twinkle in her eye and says, “thank you young man. I appreciate you. I’m not scared any more.” We small talk a bit longer and then politely leave the house. As we get back in the car I turn to my rookie and say,”mark my words, we are getting another call there soon.” I can’t recall now just how long it was, but within the week we got another call there. In my mind it is the next day, but that is probably just my brain playing games. It was definitely soon though. We make the scene and find her. She’s dressed in her Sunday best. She’s laying on her back on her bed. Her right hand is reached out towards the mirror. On her face is the most peaceful and gentle faint smile. I’ve seen hundreds of the dead. I’ve never seen that look before or since. Folk, I swear this is true and I believe I know what happened. She wasn’t scared any more. They called to her, she recognized them, and she went with them. We should all be so lucky.

I don’t really believe in “ghosts” but I have experienced something unexplainable. When I was in my early 20’s, I worked Loss Prevention at an Eckerd Drug store in downtown Austin in an old historic building at 5th and Congress Ave. The store selling area was one floor, but it had a full upper floor and a basement; both of which were not really used. There was a story that long ago there was a fire in the building and something happened where several firefighters got trapped in the basement and drowned. I ended up becoming an assistant manager for the store so I would be the first at times to go in by myself to get things ready and when I closed, I was the last to leave. I experienced two very strange situations I can’t explain and again I am not a “ghost” believer. One time when I entered the store alone in the morning, I went to the office upstairs. All was completely dark and I was the only one in the store. I would have to let any employees in when they rang the buzzer. The employee restrooms were right next to the office upstairs and if the light in them had been on, I would have seen it due to it being dark. I was in the office and suddenly heard loud flowing water start. I came out of the office to see the bathroom light on in the bathroom right next to the office. I opened the door and the faucet was shooting out water full blast. I had to physically turn both knobs to stop the water and flip the switch to turn the light off. NO ONE WAS IN THE STORE. I even checked the camera system to see if anyone was screwing with me and I was alone. I can’t explain that and weird it involved water. Second one was at closing time once. I would make sure the pharmacy was secured before I left and you had to walk up just three steps to get to it so you were slightly elevated above the sales floor. Again, I was completely alone getting ready to leave. Suddenly I heard something fall on an isle. I looked and then began seeing several items falling off the shelf on either side of the isle progressively going down the aisle. That was weird and unexplainable. Those were the only two events I experienced and soon after had moved on to a different job, but people had told me stories of experiencing things like that there. NRA Benefactor Life Member

OK, here's one. Early one morning about 2:30am I was in bed and heard a noise coming from the nearby living room (the whole house is only about 700 square feet). I don't know if I was already awake and heard the noise, or if the noise woke me up. It was not a sharp of quick noise, but rather I'll describe as a "friction type noise", as if for example something was being dragged across a floor. I estimate the sound lasted a whole second or more. I grabbed my S&W M60 and flashlight and headed toward the living room. It was cool that night and the wooden front door was open with only the screen door shut and latched, hoping to let some cool air in. I do not have central heat or AC. As I passed thru the door frame leading from kitchen to living room my TV came on. The remote was several feet away, laying on the corner of a large desk. The TV I had at that time was not digital, and when you turned it on the sound came on immediately, but it took maybe 15 to 20 seconds for the picture to appear. When I crossed thru that door frame the sound came on and stayed for 2 or 3 seconds, and I immediately recognized it as being characters from The Simpson show, and then the sound went off by itself. After sweeping the room with flashlight and gun, I picked up the remote and turned the TV back on. The immediate sound again was talking of the Simpsons characters, specifically Bart's sister. Soon the picture came on, and I watched a couple minutes of the show before turning it back off. I closed and locked the front wooden door, checked the whole house, and laid back down and tried to go to sleep, but it did not happen easily. Close friend of 29 years passed just after Christmas in ‘96. He was a few years older than I, kind of like the older brother I never had. Also my best man at my wedding. Fast forward one year to the day and to about the same time (10:30 P.M.) I was watching tv and fell asleep. Gordy appeared in my dream, telling me that everything would be all right. I woke up as he left the dream just about the same time my wife came home from work. Woke up,told her what happened. As my mother was in the hospital with a broken hip I was concerned and had been pretty frazzled for the last few days over this. Little did I know that in the next four days my mother would pass away and I’d be in the hospital for an emergency heart cath and the following day a triple bypass. Coincidences? The dream at the one year point and the same time? Could be. But the prior year a couple of “coincidences” occurred while helping his widow/ex wife to be (in a divorce at the time of his death) in selling his tools, hot rod build, etc. that he had at the time. I believe he was there advising and reassuring me that night. And not ever experienced anything like that since. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. When my great grandmother died after her funeral her spirit visited my uncle at his house and told him she liked the funeral arrangement needless to say it scared him. My dad then saw her spirit pass through his bedroom into me and my brother's room although we didn't see her because we were sleep. My own experience as a kid was hearing heavy footsteps that originated in the kitchen, would move i to the dining room and up the stairs to the second floor where they stopped. I was to scared to ever get out of bed and look in the hallway to see what was there.

Not me, but a co-worker. Patrolling on a summer night, graveyard shift. He passes a house and hears singing coming from a house. Sometime later, he responds to a call at the house. He is speaking to the elderly female owner of the house, and he mentions hearing her 'chorus' singing, but was surprised that they would be practicing so late at night. She responds, "Oh, you heard the ladies." Turns out the woman lived alone, No chorus, no friends. She referred to them as "The Ladies." Tony

The fall of '83, I was walking through the woods between Whitefish, MT and Tally lake with my bow trying to find that dang buck that I'd seen before. I'd not been to that particular area before and thought, why not? I skirted a small meadow not more than an acre or two and saw an old cabin type structure. The roof and two of the walls had mostly caved in. I was kind of poking around in there and found a woman's shoe. I examined it for a few minutes and put it down where I found it. While walking away from that cabin and heading back to my truck, I looked back at it for some reason. Standing in the middle of the meadow was young woman in a blue printed dress. She raised her right hand and waved at me. I did my usual quick wave back and continued on for a few steps not thinking much of it. And then it dawned on me...that ain't right! I looked back and she was gone. Just like that. Was it her shoe? ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. One evening I was sitting in my recliner working on my laptop while watching TV. My late miniature schnauzer was in the adjacent recliner sleeping. She suddenly yelped and jumped down to the living room floor. Her reaction was as if someone goosed her. Anyhow, she was immediately focused on the love seat directly in front of the chair she had been laying in. Her hackles where up, she was vocalizing a low growl and moving in a half circle all while staring at the empty love seat as if she could see something (or someone) I could not. I sat watching this for a minute or so before she somewhat calmed down and came over to sit next to me...still upset. The entire time the hair on my arms were standing on end. She never did anything like that before or after. NRA Life Patron

In the first house I owned we had an entity we nick named Charlie. It would randomly hide things, some of which were needed on a regular basis. Didn't mind it reading current magazines or but borrowing the second set of car keys for about 4 months was a bit too much. The keys were put in the usual spot in the house and disappeared. They turned up months later on a plainly visible shelf in the living room. Wife and I were the only ones living there at the time so no kids or other folks present. Other items would randomly "get lost" usually just for a few days and show up where they should have been in the first place or move to an unexpected location and reappear. 1962 I was gifted a Beagle puppy from a family friend who was a veterinarian. Doc would come to our home and visit and Rowdy would jump into his lap, curl up and nap. Doc took ill and was hospitalized until his passing on a Sunday night. That night I was in bed asleep sometime after nine, I was ten years old. My mom and dad were up watching tv, Rowdy was sleeping soundly when he suddenly woke up with a baying/mournful howling. He used to howl when he heard sirens, not unusual as we lived alongside an expressway but this was different. It even woke me up, small house. Rowdy went back to sleep. Maybe an hour later the phone rang. My parents always said “nothing is good when a phone rings after nine o’clock” and I woke up again. Doc’s wife called, he died about an hour before. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A.
