In the 90's, I worked in a town which was established in colonial times and the church in question was built in 1858. While on duty, about 0100, I found an unlocked door at a church. While checking the church, I heard footsteps in the social hall which was behind but connected to it. The footsteps were from hard soled footwear, fairly heavy, but very slow and steadily paced. I listened for a few seconds and they sounded like they were moving away from the exit that I was closest to. I moved as quickly as I could to that door and entered the social hall. I checked the hall but no one was in there. The other end of the social hall, and only other exit, exited to the offices for the church. That exit had old panic bar operated fire doors. If anyone had exited through those doors, I would have heard the hardware. I checked the offices and found no one in there. Sitting at my desk today and from behind me I hear “Hello”. I could swear it was my dad’s voice. “I'm fat because every time I do your girlfriend, she gives me a cookie”. Is committed to helping increasing carbon emissions. | |||
