I tried melatonin for a while but it didn't make any difference. I've tried Tylenol PM a couple times, the jury is still out on that. Once it did nothing. The other time was when I woke up at 2AM and was having trouble dropping off again so I took one then. It got me back to sleep, but I was groggy most of the next morning. Advil PM used to be my go-to, but now the doctor says I can't take it anymore because it doesn't play nice with my BP med.

Whether its Advil or Tylenol PM, the sleepy part of the pill is just Benadryl. Much less expensive to buy separate acetaminophen and dyphenhydramine.

My personal experience:
First day: I take a 3mg and works fine, but not all night.
Second day: May or may not work, most times doesn't work.
Third day: I go to 6MG, works ok.
Fourth day: Doesnt do much.
Fifth day: im at 9 or 10 MG. Works good.
The following days, you get the idea, may or may not work, and I keep increasing the dose until I just decide to stop before I make it worse that what it is.

Good to know. They gave me IV Benadryl when I was in the hospital after cancer surgery. I'd always thought it was just for allergies, but it worked well as a sleep aid too.

For a while I was taking 10MG per night. Got about 4 hours sleep and then get up to use the head and can't go back to sleep for at least and hour.
A Zquil will get me about 6 hours but some strange dreams. A Zquil or 2 Benadryl will get me a good 8 hours. Again, strange and vivid dreams.
Maybe when I retire, I'll try the CBD gummies. I have a friend that will use them at night occassionally and he gets great sleep.
