6 weeks of insomnia have me half bat sh*t nuttso. I asked my nephrologist and pharmacist if they could recommend some sleep stuff. The Internet has some scary side effects. Even for the over the counter stuff. Any attention you choose to share is appreciated. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Just don't get stuck using it. Alternatively you could try some reefer. _____________________________________________ Proverbs 3:31 "Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways."

For me it makes absolutely no noticeable difference. I sympathize though, I recently had some medical issues that kept me from sleeping for multiple days and it was madness inducing. I hope you find a solution. "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford, "it is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards." "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I go right to sleep. But busily dream which seems to keep me from getting into a deep restful sleep. Been waking up tired. Maybe try a tylenol pm? I will watching this thread. Best of L. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I've been taking 3mg for several years and it works for me (and the wife sometimes too). There don't seem to be any side effects, not drowsy after waking up. We usually take it about 30 minutes before bedtime. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I use 10mg every now and then and it will give me 4-5 hours of sleep. If I use more than a couple of days it gives me weird dreams.

I have dissolveable melatonin tablets that I use every once in a blue moon, either if I've been laying in bed for a while and can't get to sleep, or if I wake up at 1 or 2 am and can't get back to sleep. Seems to work for me. But I don't need it every day, week, or even month. Long term use/dependence can result in negative side effects, including serious ones like heart failure.

Melatonin didn't work for me. Sleep gummies do.

Before I retired I took 10mg almost every night because I had a 5:00 AM start time and I had a heck of a time falling asleep when it's light out. 10mg did the trick for me. I haven't taken it in a few weeks and sleep fine now that I can stay up later.

I take 10mg every night, and sleep like a spanked baby. If there are side effects, I haven’t been bothered by them.

The only sleep assist I've ever tried was when I had back pain and was taking 2 Advil which did reduce the pain. At bedtime instead of 2 Advil, I took 1 Advil and 1 Advil PM and I don't recall ever sleeping so deeply. I didn't wake up until morning. Tried it a few times and with different doses. Have never had any effect. There are lots of reasons people don't sleep well. Melatonin is experimental at best. Ambien and Lunesta are just as bad. You should first see a pulmonolgist or sleep psychologist to determine why you are not sleeping. Sleep studies can be helpful. Just because a drug is OTC does not mean it is benign.

I have not found the study on line but The University of Iowa is supposed to have done an 18 month study. That claims mel should not be used with Tv screen, computer screen or cell screen's. The reverse affect can be experienced. The mel will wake you wide the hell up. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Sleep doc gave me instructions if I wanted to try. He said most people take too much and st the wrong time. I haven’t gone down that road yet.

I take 2 magnesium glycinate 100mg, melatonin 5mg, and l-theanine 200mg about half an hour before I go to sleep and it works pretty good for me if pain is not keeping me awake. But everyone is different. I know more than a few people that never could get a good nights sleep and were then diagnosed with sleep apnea and once they used a CPAP machine they sleep great. Caffeine after noon can disrupt sleep for a lot of people. Think hard about has anything changed in your routine/situation in the last 6 weeks. Some people also swear by Ashwagandha for sleep as it does reduce cortisol. However Ashwagandha supplements are all over the place with amounts of it. However there is a standardized one called KSM-66 which I take (Nutricost brand) a few times a week for strength training. Good luck! https://www.sleepfoundation.or...eep-aids/ashwagandha https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d...b0-296ad6bb76d6&th=1

Fwiw....I take 10 mg most every night....so far, no side effects and no hangover. I read somewhere that it only has a half-life of 2 hours. I'll also take a Tylenol or sometimes two, at night just for general aches and pains. YMMV....

It works great for me, but only at no more than 5mg. Higher and it makes me hyper and hostile and jittery the next day.

My physician recommended Pure Zzzz because regular melatonin wouldn't help for more than a few hours; it works pretty good taken right before bed, coupled with 250mg of magnesium & 200mg of L-Theanine about an hour before bed. But, it doesn't help night cramps in my legs (usually around 4am), so I'll take 1500mg Turmeric when I wake in the middle of the night; that combination has been working for the last year or so. _____________________________________ P220, P225, P226, P228, P229 Legion, P230, P230SL, P239, 38H, P365, P365 faux Legion, M17X, M17 Full, M18, P210 Standard, P210 Carry Custom Works, SP2022
