I don't think the public is buying it. There's dissatisfaction with Trump, and make no mistake. He has, at times, wandered all over the map, contradicted himself, tweeted some truly stupid stuff, and claimed things weren't true that patently were. Those are the reasons his poll numbers are slipping. But that doesn't mean people have lost all faith in him, as the dominant "news" media (hereinafter: DNM) would have everyone believe. And it certainly doesn't mean people are buying the left's narrative. What we need to do it get out there on social media and calmly, cogently present two things: 1. The facts. E.g.: With his initial comments Trump was not professing acceptance of bigotry or white supremacy. He was pointing out the violence was from both sides of what happened there. That's because it was. 2. If you suspect the narrative being presented by the DNM is false, you're not crazy and you're definitely not alone. That second is very important. During the last election cycle I was having a hard time believing the narrative being presented by the DNM. When I decided to not only switch my vote to Trump, but to campaign for him, I found out it was completely false. The first clue was when it was neighbourhood women who were the first, most vocal supporters of Trump I encountered. The second was when I went to the County GOP Headquarters to pick up signs and stickers and found all kinds of people of colour and women working his campaign. As luck would have it: His bus was there on my 2nd visit. The passengers were a veritable rainbow of people. It was then, two days before the election, I knew Trump would win. But, until then, I wondered if it was just me. People can't be left with nothing but the drumbeat of the dominant "news" media. If we allow that, then their propaganda might win them the day. Then we're doomed. Btw: sigmonkey: Anti-FA = Anti-First Amendment. Good one ![]() "America is at that awkward stage. Please do. Because no matter what, their first and foremost hatred is true free speech. They may or may not become violent at any encounter. They may or may not have a position on a thing that anyone on the conservative side would agree with. and so forth. But, say anything or simply be in their presence and not be "one with them", and see how fast they become enraged and attempt to shut down anything they do not agree with. Yep, Anti-First Amendment all the way to the bone. And there is a reason Free Speech is #1 on the list. And why the immediate and next was the un-infringed right to keep and bear arms to defend the first. So, we will defend the first, with the first, and use the law of the land first. Don't make me go #2. It will be a shit show. "the meaning of life, is to give life meaning" ✡ Ani Yehudi אני יהודי Le'olam lo shuv לעולם לא שוב!

I really hope you and BigDeal are right. And I admit that part of my negativity comes from where I live. A place in which the sheep have voted the dregs of society into office on a continual basis for at least the last sixty years. So my perspective may be clouded. I just wonder at times if there are enough voters like us in this country who will vote the right way or will the sheep buy into the BS put out there by the Dem's and the DMF. I don't know but I hope I'm wrong and you two are right.

You're far from alone in that! I now live about as far away from Detroit as possible and still be in what is probably considered the "Metro-Detroit area." But I used to live much closer. I used to spend a good deal of time in the City. Now I avoid it like the plague, and never go into it unarmed. (To be fair: Now I go almost nowhere unarmed.) We're talking a city whose people re-elected a man who was known to have committed criminal acts and where currently running is at least one felon, maybe at least three. Not much one can do for people that willingly stupid and ignorant. The areas, mostly urban and near-urban-suburban and/or the two left coasts, that are dominated by leftists: There's not much to be done for them. But there's a whole big rest-of-the-country out there. As the Evil, Lying Harpy From The Burning Pits Of Hell found out last November ![]() "America is at that awkward stage. Judge Approves Warrant For "Antifa" User Data From Anti-Trump Website http://www.zerohedge.com/news/...a-anti-trump-website A District of Columbia Federal Judge has approved a government warrant seeking information about users and subscribers to an anti-Trump website which has been linked to rioting during the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., but he added protections to safeguard "innocent users." Chief Judge Robert Morin ruled that DreamHost, an LA-based web-hosting company, must turn over data about visitors to the website disruptj20.org, which is a home to political activists who organized protests at the time of Donald Trump's inauguration as U.S. president in January, many of whom have since morphed into the controversial "antifa" movement. Morin, who will oversee review of the data, also said the government must explain what protocols it will use to make sure the data of "innocent users" is not seized by prosecutors, according to Reuters. Bloomberg adds that prosecutors would have to tell the judge which data it intended to seize. “I’m trying to balance the First Amendment protections and the government’s need for this information,” Morin said. “My view here is that this best protects both legitimate interests.” In the closely watched case, which could have a material chilling effect on similar activist website, the DOJ said it sought the records connected to the site amid concerns that it helped facilitate the planning of protests on Inauguration Day in which more than 200 people were arrested for rioting and vandalizing businesses in downtown Washington. DreamHost resisted the original July 12 warrant, saying the scope of the warrant was too broad and trampled on the rights of 1.3 million visitors to the site, many of whom were simply exercising their First Amendment rights to express their political views. It also said the warrant would expose the identities of the 1.3 million people who had visited the site. The Justice Department last week proposed amending the scope of its warrant to exclude the IP addresses of website visitors and limit the search only to records from July 1, 2016 to Jan. 20, 2017. But DreamHost argued that the warrant was still too broad, as it could sweep in people who sent emails to disruptj20 addresses. The company objected to the two-step process that would require it to turn over data in bulk and let prosecutors search for and seize evidence of criminal involvement in the riots. At Thuesday's hearing, Judge Morin said that he recognized the tension between free speech rights and law enforcement's need to search digital records for evidence. He said he added safeguards to his order granting the government's request for information in an effort to balance those two concerns. According to Bloomberg, the warrant initially sought all data and records pertaining to disruptj20.org, including information about site visitors. Prosecutors said details on subscribers -- including names, addresses, phone numbers and the contents of email accounts within the disruptj20.org domain -- would help identify those who organized and participated in the riots. Privacy advocates raised concerns that the warrant was an attempt by the Trump administration and the Justice Department under Attorney General Jeff Sessions to cast a “digital dragnet” to identify the president’s critics. As a result, on Tuesday, prosecutors amended their request, saying in part that while the government wants information on subscribers, it’s not interested in data logs containing information about visitors. Prosecutors also say they will set aside any information that doesn’t involve rioters and have it sealed. “We are sensitive to the idea that the website has a dual purpose,” Assistant U.S. Attorney John Borchert told Morin during Thursday’s hearing. That didn’t assuage DreamHost, which told Morin that the government’s revised warrant would still give it access to membership lists and content from multiple email accounts in violation of the First Amendment. “That in and of itself will have a chilling effect,” said Raymond Aghaian, a lawyer for DreamHost. The U.S. attorney’s office in Washington told Morin that the website, disruptj20.org, was used to recruit and organize hundreds of people who rioted on Inauguration Day. The rioters, armed with hammers, crow bars and wooden sticks, also injured police and others, according to prosecutors. So far, 19 people have pleaded guilty among the almost 200 people who were charged, prosecutors said in court papers. The website wasn’t just a way to disseminate information “but was also used to coordinate and privately communicate among a focused group of people whose intent included planned violence,” prosecutors said in a court filing. Organizers of the riot used the website to verify the identity of people who would take part by requiring attendees to log in and provide their credentials, the government has alleged. _________________________

Are the driving forces behind today's events basically the same as those in the 1960s? Or are people just fucking crazy? Asking another way, is the book Day's of Rage and the review of it at the link pretty factual? I'm tempted to read it. https://status451.com/2017/01/20/days-of-rage/

Most of these thugs are filled with resentment, hatred and anger, and joining this group gives them a way to act it all out, disguised as something "noble"= anti-fascism. They attack and would destroy the First Amendment, but not really out of any principle at all. They just want to hurt people and destroy things. They are that sick. I believe such misfits are always around, and they find their way into opportunistic violence for the sake of the violence itself. Are they dangerous? Absolutely. And they need to be stopped. ______________________________________________________ "You get much farther with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone."

![]() Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown
