We've been reading and hearing the dire predictions of manmade global warming for 35 years, at least. So far, nothing even remotely close to these predictions have happened. The coastlines remain the same overall, Vanuatu is still the same, as are the beaches I frequent.

So, no, I don't buy it. I do know that when those in the highest echelons of government, and the civilian elites, tell the world that we have great worldwide emergencies whose only remedies are bigger government, more control and higher taxes, the "emergency" is pure BS.

Warmer summers, milder winters. Look it up. Storms are becoming (slightly) more severe and more frequent. Look it up. Wildfires, same thing.

40 years is not meaningful. It does appear on the timescale of a human life that things are moving in one direction, yet it is just a small variation within much longer timescales.

The 1930's were way warmer than the 1970's. We had some big snowstorms in the 70's. That's why there were predictions of an ice age by 2000. People who were young in the 1930's remembered how hot it was, and noticed how much cooler it had gotten by the late 1970's.

And that's just in one part of the world.

Check out the glaciers in Alaska. They've had big increases as well as decreases in the last century. You'll see photos of now vs before which look bad, but those are cherry picked out of very short time frames.

Cyclical weather patterns, that's all. Some years of warming and cooling, some years of more frequent and intense storms. The earth has never had stable, predictable weather patterns. There seems to be a belief that prior to the industrial revolution we lived in the Garden of Eden, where the earth's temperature was set to 70 degrees, and only rare instances of severe weather ever occurred.

If the sea level were really rising, shouldn't it at least be lapping at the base of the Statue of Liberty's pedestal?

That’s the audacity of the leftie commies. The try to convince us something we can see with our own eyes is not true. Unfortunately, there are those who cannot be bothered to think for themselves and thus have their knowledge spoon fed to them by these traitors.

The Reaganites among us know more government never fixed anything.

The seal levels have risen and fallen via 100 and 1000s of feet, as well as land masses, continental shelves, the sea floor, multiple times over thousands of millennium. IT's WHAT OCEANS DO. Places you currently live near any coast were at one time completely under water, and at other times came out of the water, and went under again, and so on. AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO, no matter what anyone thinks or says about it, and there's NOTHING we can do about it. If you're afraid of drowning any time soon, move to the mountains, even though you'll be long gone before you start swimming. Good lord people.

I read a nice report today. It was linked on Powerline blog.com; it’s from the great wattsupwiththat.com.

Link

An anonymous internet troll has tried to debunk May and Crok’s paper on how rising CO2 levels are not important.
They fisk his debunking. Makes for entertaining reading.

My 2-cents based upon my Masters Degree in Environmental Science from University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) 1978.

We were taught about climate cycle epochs going back many millions of years based upon ice core probes, geologic rock studies and sediment core samples deep in the earth. Looking at amounts of trace gases in the samples. CO2 was level was 4-5 times higher and global temperature was higher when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. The earth has a history of hot and cold cycles going back 100's of millions of years.

Yes, the climate changes over time caused by earth/ocean and solar events but in the past 70 years the ruling class "cause of the day" gets the most papers written and published to support that cause. I imagine it would be difficult to get funding now to publish anti-Man-caused Global warming papers.
In the 1970's there was some talk of the coming Global Cooling that did not happen.
Volcanic eruptions are believed to be main cause of many chemical compounds put into atmosphere over eons.
In my dated studied opinion, pollution is real and should be addressed but man-caused global warming is BS and it is a political ploy for control.
