I've done my hoarding quota, I'm sure I have over 100 lbs. I'll be darned to roll em up. Banks don't have coin counters anymore. Until I can get them weighed somewhere they can stay where they sit!

Sounds good until you realize that that since consumers can't see how much taxes are being charged governments can charge whatever tax rate they want and we'll never pay attention to the amount we are paying them. This is the euro tax model, hidden protectionism, has rates higher than 100% hidden in the price of services and goods. No, taxes should always be separated out from the actual price of the good. You need to know how far into your wallet they are getting or it will get out of control. Link

Obviously, the use of credit/debit cards and checks will retain the ability to transfer a fractional part of a dollar. Will we see merchants returning to accepting checks for face-to-face payment? My bet is no, they will simply round up to the next nickle/dime/quarter/dollar amount and pocket the excess. Do all the tip calculators in the country have to be reprogrammed to not fall on a "penny boundary?" I have already received spam "offers" that will sell me a roll of 2025 minted pennies for $20. What a deal! If that's the going rate I'd be delighted to wrap up all mu loose $0.01 coins. And what about "a penny for your thoughts?" We gotta pay a nickle now? Not worth it! Maybe all those MSM talking heads will STFU. I guess that would be too much to hope for, though.

Now everything will be priced at $x.95. How about gas prices--still to $x.xx9? The danger of baobabs is so little recognized.

Should come out in the wash if everything is rounded up or down properly to the nearest nickel. The danger of baobabs is so little recognized.

Rounding down would cost the seller some profit, I don't see that happening. A couple pennies off the price adds up (subtracts off?) over any measurable volume. -------------------------- Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. -- H L Mencken I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. -- JALLEN 10/18/18

Oh for the love. Assuming the evil merchants only round up instead of equally up and down, let’s stipulate that the average “loss” is $.03 per transaction. If you as a consumer have 3 CASH transactions per day that’s about 1,000 per year. So worst case $30, and nobody runs at that average. And the assumptions of only up are unfounded. The fast food places near me frequently round up (in my favor) to the nearest nickle when giving me change after a purchase. So I guess the penny shortage is already very real. A few times the change has been to the nearest nickle, but not in my favor. I've never complained about it. Not about to give a cashier a hard time over a few cents.

today I was in a guys garage, cataloging his (RIP) firearms and ammo for a potential buy, while looking thru the various shelves of ammo and stuff, found 6 jars/cans/boxes full of pennies, not wheat or oddball variations, just pennies, probably close to a 5 gal bucket of pennies, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Amazon sells coin tubes. $7 as i recall. Fill the tube, slide the wrapper in, fold wrapper. I was able to roll up about $70 in pennies in less than two hours Life moves pretty fast. I want to go to the store and buy that bag of plastic pennies, and pay with real pennies. _______________________________ Do the interns get Glocks?

An orange home Depot bucket holds around 400 bucks worth when filled to the brim according to the coinstar machine I dumped them into over a span of several weeks. Probably worth more as scrap copper but the scrapyards couldn't take them obviously.

Supermarkets are already running out of pennies due to panic hoarding. Some, like the one linked below, are offering 2:1 on gift cards for pennies so they can make change for their customers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F3Q-WoViuQ

So, I’ve got an empty Segrams 7 gallon bottle, from the early 70’s, that’s full of pennies. If I wait 10 years, will the pennies be worth more than the bottle?
