On my way in to work this morning, I was following a line of cars, but then this happened:

Fortunately, I was not hurt, and the truck was recovered undamaged. The sinkhole was about 8' in diameter and 3' deep. The road will be closed for about a week while geotechnical surveys and repairs are performed. Now, I have a new story to add to my repertoire.

DrDan: Hey Boss, I'm gonna be late this morning, I was on my way in and a sinkhole swallowed my truck.

Boss: Hey, if you want to take the day off just tell me!!

Thank god it wasn’t bigger or that you were moving a hole like that being hit while moving could have done a lot of damage.

A buddy of mine had something similar happen to him Friday, but he was in a 56,000+ pound Kenworth. I dared not drive over the same road.

Good to hear you are okay with no damage to the truck. Was it resting on the hitch? Looks like it could have been a lot worse if you were traveling at a decent rate of speed or got hit from behind.

Nice looking truck.

I just drove down to Orlando and heard on the new as I was driving, earlier, about a small pickup stuck in a sinkhole for about 45 minutes. That was you. LOL.

Glad you are okay.
Several years ago a timeshare building several miles north of where I live was swallowed by a sink hole.
I don't think anyone was hurt.

Yikes!

Had to be a weird feeling having the asphalt collapse under your axle.

Most sink holes in city streets are from water line breaks/leaks. Did you see water?

Did your dash cam capture the moment. This thread is worthless without the cockpit video.

Glad it wasn't a worse outcome.
