The funny thing is that asking to wave shipping was just my way of justifying a purchase I didn't need to be making. If I could get the ammo for the asking price alone, I'd go ahead, if not, I wouldn't. I did ask a question, and that means there's more than one answer. It's not that he said no- it's the way he just blew off the owner of the site he's using to sell his stuff.

I half-expected for the ammo to be gone by the time I asked anyway and I realized I might be putting the guy in a difficult position if a member came up after me and said "I'll take it", so, refusing my offer would not have been a problem. The attitude was the problem.

Yes, and it's why most of us appreciate this forum. It is a mostly cordial atmosphere where relationships are forged between members, which is quite extraordinary when you can't even see the other person. Thank you for your stewardship in keeping it that way.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I have not been here a very long time, (maybe 10+ years) but i can tell you , the caliber (no pun intended) of some of these newbies leaves me shaking my head sometimes. I liken this place to walking in a giant think tank, with everything from doctors and lawyers to plumbers to ask questions of and know that I will get an ungarnered reply with truthful answers. THAT is a luxury nowdays online and for the life of me cant figure out why people try to abuse that on here.

thanks, shawn

I'd say that Mr. Asshat's actions pretty much fits the definition of "shit in his own mess kit" pretty accurately. I have a feeling the jerkoff won't even get why he got ousted. Because, you know...it's ALWAYS someone else's fault.

What's the saying?? "If you come across assholes all day long, maybe it's time to take a look in the mirror."

You get to advertise your goods for free on a site uncluttered with ads, at the expense of one person. I'm thinking that's worth a discount or at least a polite answer and a thank you for the site.

Shitty little site?? Apparently not little and shitty enough to not sell on it - to an audience of 10 of thousands of people (for free no less). Yes, the attitude expressed reveals much about his character (or lack thereof.)

Sounds like one of those people that have never built anything but are quick to criticize what other people have built, managed and grown for years - investing unknown amounts of time and money into it.

That posting was doomed from the beginning, "Approximately $20.00 shipping". You can't hardly ship anything for $20.00, let alone a case of ammunition.

The amount of sheer "what a tool" in that asshat makes that guy look like the Craftsman center at a Sears in 1980.

What I don't get is why anyone who has been here for any length of time would not accept a check from not only Para but anyone else who has a thousand or more post. The real danger with paying by personal check is not with the seller but with the buyer, if the person selling is really a scammer then they could potentially wash the check and change the amount.

I’m finding it funny trying to read what was going through his head. He didn’t want to take a personal check from you because it might bounce and you’ll be gone like the wind… from your own forum?

The shipping and payment by check is simply negotiating terms.

But, yeah, this reminds me of many people I’ve known over the years. It’s like everything is a single transaction of the moment with no memory of any goodwill or benefits received in the past. They’re quick to interpret anything as a slight and forget all the favors you’ve done them in the past. Fuck em.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
