Get busy living or get busy dying! ![]() |
At our monthly poker game ($40 buy in) last week, professional guys I've known for 5-10 years, we got to talking about cash on hand. Most guys had a 2-8 hundred on them, one doctor keeps $30G in cash at his house. So.....this is a weird question. How much cash do you typically have: 1. On you (wallet) 2. In your house/safe I know the polite answer is "none of your business", but I think this is pretty anonymous.

Makes it a poll with ranges, one question for walk around cash, another for house stash then it will be anonymous... What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand??? ![]()

About $20.00 on hand and a Paris metro ticket. In my office, bills from Iraq, Bulgaria, Cuba, Montenegro and some others I don't remember now. Bunch of pennies and a gold-colored US dollar coin. The dollar coin's for luck. *************************** Knowing more by accident than on purpose.

I have between 0 and 20 dollars in cash on me. My kids usually need the exact amount of whatever I have on me for some event at school or fun thing with their friends so I am usually cash free.

When I was active in business, traveling around, going to the office every day, checking deals, properties, flying the airplane, etc., I found it necessary to keep several grand in the home safe, and $500 or so in my pocket for walking around money. I don’t walk around much anymore, so have no need for much. I think I hit the ATM last in October. I might have $20-30 in my pocket now. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Winner! I keep ammo on hand, that can get me cash pretty easily in a number of ways. Cash? Maybe $5 in a pocket somewhere.

If you keep a large amount of cash in your home you might want to consider getting a rider on your homeowner's policy. My in-law's neighbor's house burned down last January and they saved and kept cash at home, didn't believe in investing it. They lost their entire retirement - the insurance only covered $200 in cash on their policy. They are going to rebuild their house, but not sure what they are going to do - the man is near 70 and he is going to have to continue working to support himself and his wife. Sad situation. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

I keep a crisp $100 sharply folded in my wallet for emergencies. I often forget it is there. I also always keep some cash in my pocket for "walking around money"--usually $50-100. I keep small bills on purpose so that I can pitch in the correct amount when eating with friends or for tipping. I also keep around 100 Euros at home to take on me with trips. I like stepping off the plane with cash on me so that I don't have to worry about hitting the ATM right away. I just make sure that I come home with a little extra to take with me on my next trip.

A minimum of $500 in my wallet, and at least $2k underneath my mattress ![]() But I go through a lot of cash sometimes with my business....Like if I have to run a yacht to the Bahamas, customs fee there alone is $300 and they only take cash......etc.

I have $1.87 in my PayPal, and some quarters on my desk but I need those for laundry. There is a Susan B around here somewhere. So, about 8 bucks. Cash. I'll take $10 for the lot of it. ___________________________ He looked like an accountant or a serial-killer type. Definitely one of the service industries.

Twenty bucks maximum on me. Probably ten dollars change in my car's console. I don't know if it's because I got use to my dad always having large amounts of cash on him or if I just like being able to have enough cash on hand to buy that next pistol or rifle. But normally around 2k.

Almost always < $20 in the wallet, often <$10. Don't believe I'll say on the other question. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Do gold and silver coins count as "cash"? If so, I've got s substantial stash in my safe. I typically carry only less than $40 in my wallet. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth
