Well, this being a gun forum and all. . .

There really is no one size or brand or model that is ‘best’.

It is all about what is best for you. Which pen feels most comfortable in your hand. Which pen can you write most legibly with, and, deliver quick, accurate, repeatable, and correct punctuation. Is this a pen that is going be used for writing novels, short stories, limericks or making out shopping lists? The cost of ink refills should be considered as well. Some may be more than others, and if you write a lot the cumulative cost of replacement ink over time can add up to some real money.

There are so many variables to take into consideration in making this important decision and investment. Sorry that I could not be more helpful.

For me, I like the Pilot G2 Gel pen. It’s the Glock 19 of pens - affordable, functional, reliable and folks may be less inclined to steal it if they had an option to thieve something more expensive and fancy looking.

I'm a bit of a Uniball Jetstream evangelist. I've tried SO MANY pens over the years. I had locked in on Zebra until I found the Jetstream, and now I'm annoyed if I have to write with anything else. Forget Cross, forget Parker, forget Montblanc - I've had them all and the Jetstream writes circles around them.

I run a military video gaming unit, and I can't think of a better endorsement than this that one of my guys wrote once they found out that I used a Pilot G-2:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

There was a time in my life where I struggled to enjoy the quality and flow of my penmanship. Many years ago, I switched to a Pilot G2 Pens and have not looked back since.

High School was an awkward time for me and my handwriting. Many gel pens had terrible balance and ink flow that made my penmanship very difficult to decipher for friends and teachers alike. Cursive handwriting, being the classier pen script, was a difficult journey and experience for me. Growing up in Catholic school, the nuns would strike my palms for not having legible handwriting. There were countless times where I was held after class, and even sent to the principal's office for not cutting the mustard when it came to handwriting. This was a difficult time in my life as graduation from my grades seemed like a distant dream. Maybe I was never cut out for the professional world given my terrible handwriting. Maybe I am a failure.

After years of therapy and counselling, I came to find out that I was not to blame. Rather, the inferior pen products placed in my hand by "Big Ink Corporations" made me believe that the pen wasn't the culprit. My therapist used Pilot G2 pens for taking notes and I noticed this during one of our sessions. I asked why he used that pen, and he stated that "it was the best pen money could buy." He let me take his pen for a test drive and, boy did I have a weight lifted from my shoulders. Immediately I believed that it was forever the pen that was the problem, and my confidence increased immensely.

Confidence is a huge factor when it comes to writing legibly. I would guess that scientifically it is approximately 57.4% of the reason people write poorly. When you want to write that special thank you card, take notes, or even throw pens at homeless people, you can do so confidently with the Pilot G2 pen. Take my word for it. "Pilot G2s are the best pen money can buy." Those words have forever stuck with me. With thousands of dollars spent on doctors and specialists, I have a new outlook in life that allows me to make a bold statement with my handwriting - one that the nuns could never hit again.

Recently I came to find out that this pen is the preferred writing instrument of our beloved Unit Commander. You can see above that he exudes confidence and delivers feedback with the assistance of a Pilot G2 handwriting device. Imagine where this unit would be if we did not have our feedback written down by the preferred writing instrument of Arma 3 Milsim Leaders. I take great comfort in knowing that we are graced by greatness on all levels around here. We learn from OSUT that the details matter, and delivering those details is the Pilot G2 pen that constantly improves our team.

I implore you with tears in my eyes - the Pilot G2 pen has changed my life and has the possibility of changing yours as well. I attached a link to a hell of a deal on Amazon that can get you into our Pilot G2 club as quickly as you can say "Amazon Prime."

https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-R...a-307318678741&psc=1

Take the leap - change your life. Pilot G2 pen will navigate you from a writing novice to a decorated writing warrior in no time.

Thank you for your time and for your consideration. I apologize for the length but I have nothing but amazing things to say about the quality of this instrument. Be assured in knowing that my full endorsement is essentially a guarantee.

Godspeed,
CPT Hammersmain
Pilot G2 Evangelist

Disclaimer: I received absolutely zero compensation for this endorsement.

Stop by my credit union. Every teller station has a cup full of Bic pens with the credit union advertising on them.

I haven't purchased a pen in 40 years.

Did I mention the free safe deposit box with a certificate of deposit account?

Ha! Earlier this evening I was talking to a friend, a retired Marine Corp Gunny.

I mentioned that I’ve taken part in questions about the best pens.

I was quickly corrected in that loud strong Marine voice “They’re Ink Sticks, damn it, INK STICKS!!!” lol at least I wasn’t yelled to give him 20 push-ups.

Thanks Mr Gunny.

I like cross Parker fisher and have a couple of benchmade tactical pens. My favorites are my Mont Blancs but I haven’t priced them lately.

Always carried a Cross Classic with me everywhere I went. At work or fishing I had it with me. I have terrible handwriting but could control the Cross Classic. Now being retired over 4 years I don’t carry it as much. The idea of carrying a carpenters pencil is intriguing. Already got the knife to sharpen it with.

For what you are talking about, the Fisher Space Pen. Among its advantages are, it won't go dry in a hot car.

I have a handful of pens.
The Zebra 701's are great, all metal, replacement ink is easy to find.

The Fisher Space Pen works! Try writing a supplemental report in -10F, you'll figure out what a good pen is! Wink

I have a few parker pens, they always work too! Nothing against the Pilot G-2 either.

A while ago, someone got me a 2 pen set gift:

and

Not bad!
They weren't something that I'd go out and get for myself, but I'm happy I have them now. They have easy to find refills as well. I'm of the mindset that I'll grab 10 refills on line then have a few stashed at home, at work and in my work / school binder.

simple, and they work,

when I was in the Grocery Biz, I would go by the RX and get one of the neat (and usually damn good writing) pens that the drug reps would leave, but the State said no more, so they dried up,

while at Shot Show I grabbed one or 2 from every vendor that had them on the table, and between that, and a couple boxes of generic pens I ordered off of Uline, they last me a good while,

I used to be a pen snob, now, I tend to loose them often, so am not as picky
tho I do prefer black ink, med point, ink or gel,

Yessir! F701 -- all day, every day.
I've probably got a dozen of them scattered about the house, work, cars, backpack, etc.

I'm one of these also. I used to buy a two pack of 401s for the metal tailcaps because the 701s came with plastic ones. The plastic tailcap threads would wear out from me pulling the pen out of my pocket by the clicker.

Welcome to Sig Forum!
That's usually how it goes around here. Wink

Off the top of my head, I think we talked members into buying Guns, Cars, Watches, Pens, Dogs, Cats, Bourbon, Bacon, Meat, Meat with a quarter, Boats, Glocks, and possibly an Airplane or two...

Admission is free, but the cost of sticking around gets pretty expensive!
